Not happy about the look of that door – can anyone recommend a good tutorial on metal surfaces?
Also, I tried out greying out the lineart in the backgrounds to create some depth, but I’m kinda on the fence about that one – thoughts?

Sweet! new pages! I can't say I really noticed any greying out of backgrounds, but it probably works, since it makes the eyes instinctively focus on what it should be looking at (black being more attention-grabbing than grey). Unfortunately, I have given up on bettering myself as an artist, so I have no helpful tutorials for you, other than perhaps use reference pictures?

So, it works at least x) Still not sure if I like it, though. Reference could work too, I guess, but since this is comic-style rather than realistic, it might clash with the rest of the page

Absolutely good point. So I wanted to suggest this earlier as a possibility: Do you know the comic trying human? It has some very styllistic colouring and perhaps it could help to just see how she does things (example: www.tryinghuman.com/index.php?… pages 72-80). I realise it's in colour and is very different to how you do things, but
