Poor Africa. She seems to not realize that to lions there are only two things on the Savannah besides themselves..., threats and prey. Either way they'll kill you if they can.
Edit: Just looked up Chui in Swahili. It means leopard. I don't think the lions care who she is, she's still a leopard. A competing interloper to be disposed of..., bonus points if they can kill her cubs before they can grow up.

Obviously, Chui the individual did something to piss these lions off... however, I got the same impresion from this scene as well.. one leopard is the same as the next to them.
All in all, I'm really adoring Arven's portrayal of lions. It all just seems as though this is what they would be like if they could speak.

Bes is so regal and lazy and powerful, surrounded by his adoring, but equally deadly, wives and daughters. I can't wait to see her hyenas, if that is indeed what little Binti has run into.
Arven has so beautifully avoided all the Disney stereotypes so far, I hope she continues with the hyenas, and avoids falling into the 'stupid scavengers' mistake so many people make with them.

I'd honestly love to see the hyenas as the intelligent hunters they actually are. The fact that the females so firmly hold the dominant position in hyena society would also be very interesting to see.
As for the critters Binti ran into in the burrow... the worst I think it could be would be a honey badger. That hole didn't look big enough for an adult spotted hyena to crawl into.. they'd have to be cubs. However, I don't think hyenas would have a den right in the middle of the territory of their greatest rival..

Guys, guys! First off, go look up and see what good are lion eyes are. For all I know, they are myopic and visually go by general shape and color. Chui was cat-shaped, smaller than the lions, and was yellow with brown smudges. Africa fits all that. Second, Africa's terrified. How do we know the smell of fear isn't overriding her feminine scent? Third. Look what Chui did to Africa. If he humiliated this pride ....well, think about that guy you know who hates dogs because a terrier bit him when he was 4. You can show him a court affidavit promising that your overweight basset hound will only come near him if you're covered in gravy, but will he change his views on canine stereotyping? Not likely. So these lion may have adopted a similar p.ov.

Usually I love lions, but these ones are just plain dumb. Can’t they tell the difference between a male and a female -_- sorry leopards don’t have manes to make it more obvious

Literally the only thing I can think of right now as to why these lions are acting so stupid is that Chui himself put them up to it. Otherwise I can't find any sense to make of this.

"Baba" means "Dad/Father" in Swahili so I think that's a loving way to talk to him for the lionesses.
About the roar... No idea, I guess that's maybe the lion version of our human "Bes has spoken" xD
