Description
A request from ~orkakid of her picture of the whale Corky. I do have plans for a simple background, but haven't started on it yet. Original will be up for sale upon completion and ~orkakid gets first dibs, if she's interested. Anyway, done in charcoals, with very light pastel color add-ons. It didn't turn out as smooth as I had hoped, but I am very happy with it regardless. Hope you like it, ~orkakid !.:FOR SALE:.

In some instances you'll discover it carries more of an impact than an actual background. Depends on what you want to convey. In this case the focus is totally on the well drawn orca, and allows you to put as much detail into it without detracting from it without background clutter.

That's really insightful. I've never thought of it like that. I've always thought it was just a sign of laziness! (At least, on my part; I know why I don't do backgrounds sometimes!) I'll have to keep that in might. Thanks!
