Description
Hikari raced through the forest, hoping to retrieve what was hers. She couldn't have afforded to lose it. For all of her powers were concealed inside of it.What was the mysterious object? It was a gem. A sparkling red gem that belong to her, and her only. Hikari wasn't supposed to let anyone else see it. For that would be too dangerous. Yet she foolishly lost it.
Rain was beating down on her. Hard. If she didn't find shelter quickly, it was possible that she could have simply frozen.
'Come on, come on, I know it was here someplace!' Hikari thought frantically. 'It has to be here! I never leave! If it's not here, I'll... I'll eat my crown! Just let it be here, please!'
She sprinted along the trees, heart racing and breath quickening with every step. Oh, how she wished that she could use her wings and fly, high above the clouds and pouring rain, looking down on everything. But she couldn't. For she had gone too far away from her home within this forest. Her home in which there was a barrier that made everything inside of it invisible. A barrier that only the eyes of the trustworthy could see through. Anyone else would simply see a normal forest.
Hikari kept running, until she finally stopped at a cave. She looked at it for a second, then had a sudden realisation. 'What am I doing? It's pouring out here.' She thought. 'I'm drenched in rain and it's freezing! If I don't find shelter soon, I'll turn into some sort of icicle.' So instead of continuing her little expedition further, she -- with slight resent -- walked into the shadowy cave. There, she lied down and curled up on the grassy, damp cave floor. 'If I don't come back,' she thought with misty eyes, 'I sincerely hope that Tsuki and the others can protect the land themselves....' And with that, she closed her tired eyes and slept.
Hikari woke up a few hours later to birds chirping and trees rustling softly in the wind. She opened her sleepy eyes to the sun, now shining, without a hint of rain nor clouds in the sky. She got up, yawned, and stretched. 'I guess the rain stopped... how long was I out?' She thought. 'Ugh, my mouth is so dry. There has to be some sort of water source around here somewhere....' And sure enough, there was a freshwater lake nearby, a . She raced over to it as quick as she could. The water was a clear blue. It looked safe enough, so she dipped her head in and drank some. It didn't taste contaminated, nor toxic or anything like it. It tasted as fresh as it looked. But then Hikari saw something giving off a red light at the bottom. 'W-what the...? I-I didn't drink that stuff... did I?' She stared at the lake, looking into the depths of its unusual red glow. She contemplated whether she should go in and get whatever it is, or just walk away and forget what had happened. After a minute or so, she chose to see what it was. So she took a deep breath, and jumped in. As she swam deeper, the red glow seemed to look familiar. When she finally got to the bottom, she grabbed it then quickly resurfaced. She only had to look at the red object once to see what it really was. It was her gem. "Oh my goodness! I- I can't believe it! My gem! I found my gem!" She was so happy that she did a little victory dance while in the water.
Hikari then turned around to go back to her home, but she froze. There was a child. A human child on the edge of the lake staring at her. She didn't look much older than ten. Her eyes were opened so wide, they looked like they were going to pop out of her eye sockets. "What-- what are you...?" The child stuttered, her body slightly trembling. Hikari backed up a little, only in some feet to be stopped by the other edge of the pond. "N-no!" The child said. "Please don't be scared!" Hikari continued to say nothing. "A-are you hungry? O-or something?" She pulled an apple out of her pocket. "H-here." She said, stretching out her arm as far as she could to give Hikari the apple. "I-I'm sorry if you wanted more, but it's all I have at the moment." Hikari inched forward slowly then quickly grabbed the apple from the child's hand. She didn't know what to do, so she took a bite. "W-well I'm not sure what you are, or if you can talk, but, h-hi, I guess... m-my name is Hana. W-what's yours? I-if you have one...." Hikari saw this as her chance. She tore through the water, climbed onto the grass and sprinted away, as fast as she could.
"Hey, wait!"
