Description
Here’s some personal concepts I’m building on. I obviously used the same linework for each, so I apologise for the lack of diversity in their bodies. They’re not fully fledged characters yet, more like fashion sketches.There’s a whole lot more of these and environments as well. Will be a long time before anything complete surfaces though.

This is so beautiful. Like everyone else, I think that my favourite is number 6. The lighter shadings on the lower belly and upper torso give a glowing effect that really makes her stand out. And that hair, urg.
She reminds me a bit of a bad witch in one of the movies I used to watch a lot growing up. They don't have the same design, but for some reason I think of her. Here is a picture -> www.africanfilm.com/images/fil…

Aah I've never seen this film but I can totally see the resemblance! What film is this? Gold compliments black skin so well, so I think it's probably quite a common combination for black fantasy women, but yes they're really similar!

It's a french film called "Kirikou et la sorcière" (Kirikon and the witch) and if you find a subbed version, dubbed version or you understand French, you should totally watch it because it's so beautiful like, every scene is so full of colors (even if some parts freaked me out when I was a kid).
And yes, gold on black skin is very, very pretty. I could even suggest that you make no 6's gold a smooch brighter so it comes out better... when you draw her again, of course.

Ooh thanks, one day I will learn French and I'll likely look into this film then, as I do watch a lot of cartoons to help me with the languages I'm currently learning (German, Finnish and Icelandic, so sadly not much time to fit any more languages in at the moment!)

These are all stunning! It's so refreshing to see mermaids with some accessories aside from shells. I have to agree with many here that 6 is the most striking; I imagine she'd look great with 7's hip sash too.

Thanks!! I think everyone's been saying number 6 primarily. I have a load more of these that are still 'maybe's in my head and there will be certainly more to come in some form or another. (I'm sorta designing societies more than key characters with these! A visual head world, rather than a story, as I suck at stories!)

I don't wish to start a fight, however...
I believe a woman's naked breasts are not sexual (unless she intends them to be.) Not unlike a man's naked chest. In the case of the fetish stuff here on DA involving exposed breasts, then yes sure, mature content due to the mature context. But this is hardly mature; they're barely defined or even visible on some of them for a start. They're so neutral here that censoring this would feel (to me at least) like censoring the word 'breast' itself, because all it's doing at most is reminding people that breasts exist and a bare breast is not a thing that can traumatise anyone from exposure at an early age any more than a man's bare chest can. Given that globally, children are often exposed directly to the naked breast for breastfeeding... I'm not sure why it was ever deemed as mature content? To protect children? ...or to protect adults who can't separate the woman's chest from their sexual persuasions? If it is the latter and they find this shocking/arousing because they saw literally a couple of barely visible dots and half moon lines, then I really think they have a problem and you can't really fault my drawing for being provocative.
On principle, I will not mature content this until it is reported and I am forced to. Feel free to do that; I can't stop you, but please do consider whether you really support the idea that something like this is 'mature' and who you're really protecting by censoring this. Are you protecting harmless preteens, some of which will have been breastfed and are no worse off for that then the ones who weren't? Or are you instilling the idea that a woman's bare chest is something one should find offensive? Who does that help? Is anyone -really- offended by this drawing?

It's a good notion, but I feel this is not something anyone should need protection from. Underage or not, it's not a threat by any means.

Haha sadly not, though I do hope there will be more of these to see in time. I plan on taking these designs further and illustrating them with scenery and context. Maybe one day I'll have enough to make a coffee table book out of who knows!
