I was instantly reminded of Hayao Miyazaki's Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind and its depiction of the Giant Warrior. This piece has a suitably post-apocalyptic feel to it.

Interesting. My first thought was the Robot in Laputa: Castle in the Sky.

Reminds me of a scene from "Girl Genius" where the heroine, Agatha Heterodyne, found an old war robot out in the woods and scavenged material from it.

Little did she know, she had awakened one of the many autonomous Iron Man suits that belonged to an Avenger by the name of Tony Stark. The Avengers were a heroic organization that protected the Earth thousands of years ago. The suit comes to life, and speaks.

"I... I am F.R.I.D.A.Y... Who are you?".

What I wanna know is how on earth they got such advanced tec.

Kiwi-R In reply to Champion-of-Mustard [2019-09-11 16:28:13 +0000 UTC]

Maybe this is taking place in a world where something big and major happened during a time when technology was super advanced. The world could have been left in disarray after that event, in turn causing people to have to resort/revert back to simpler ways of life.

It has the feel of someone discovering a Giant Warrior in Hayao Miyazaki's Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, one of the massive superweapons responsible for the apocalyptic war known as the "Seven Days of Fire" which happened 1,000 years previously. Certainly you'd have a dark age and loss of technology in such a scenario; we might well suffer something similar if a nuclear conflagration were to break out in the real world.

True. It does have that kind of feel to it, doesn't it?

Champion-of-Mustard In reply to Kiwi-R [2019-09-11 20:17:01 +0000 UTC]

Well, that big and major event for me could only be one of two things.
Either, a greater outside power completely wiped the people them off the planet; or They reached a technological dead end and ran out of the more advanced resources, thus requiring them to revert back to older practices. (an example being Wakanda running out of vibranium.)

Kiwi-R In reply to Champion-of-Mustard [2019-09-11 20:26:20 +0000 UTC]

Those are two very good theories. There's also the possibility it could have been a combination of the two. A technological dead end was reached, therefore making them unable to truly defend themselves from a greater outside power. But instead of all of them being wiped out, some survived and continued on with simpler ways.

Champion-of-Mustard In reply to Kiwi-R [2019-09-12 02:45:48 +0000 UTC]

Now that I think about it, that could very well be the case.
Seeing as all of the most valuable materials on the planet had already been used up the invaders would have no reason to linger. So, that would leave the survivors to be in a more primitive state. Kinda brings out a feeling that this kind of Tec will never be of access ever again.

I guess in the end it's just a matter of if that tech being inaccessible would now be for better or worse.
