Great picture.. I have never gotten the knack of putting the lens backwards yet.

The 50mm 1.8 is a little easier to use. The ring around the glass with all the info on it sits more easily around the lens mount ring. There's also less to worry about with changing focal distance.  I find that it's easier to have your fingers that aren't holding the lens against something (usually the object or what the object is on) to help stabilize and make small adjustments to your focal plane.

I have my own nifty-fifty.  So far I usually use my 60mm Macro for the close-up work.  I also have a +10 diopter magnifying lens to stick on the end of that.  But then I wind up with truly tiny DoF so I am starting to experiment with focus stacking
