Admin: And Italy, shame on you for not saving your big brother!

B-but...Germany!

Admin: Okay, okay. I went to far that time. *hugs Italy* I'm sorry for picking on you guys. Let's go get some cookies!

Semi-rant below. Beware:

When I got this question, I for some reason thought it would be easy. For most of them, it was, but the Asians gave me a hell of a time, especially Japan. Mostly, that was because while I was leaning towards Japan going back for China, my sister wanted him to go save America. That could have something to do with the fact that America is her favorite character (and Ameripan her favorite couple) while China is mine. It also didn't help me that I have a personal headcanon that Japan harbors extreme guilt for his actions toward the other Asians in the past and, as such, is secretly very protective of them and concerned with their well-being. Then there's my natural love for sibling relationships (Veneziano and Romano, Germany and Prussia, Switzerland and Liectenstein, etc.) However, since this isn't just my account, I had to meet my sister halfway and, as such, I was left with a really painful result.

So I thought I'd share my thoughts on it here. Really, I think Japan and China (the characters) have a much deeper bond with each other than people realize. In the webcomics and other media, they do seem to genuinely want to get along and have a relationship, but differences in ideas, history, other relations, and the inability to understand one another come between them even to this day (the actual countries don't seem to like each other at all.) China is always excited whenever Japan expresses any sort of caring for him, and Japan was actually the only one to show up to spend Chinese New Year with China (instead of spending Christmas with Germany and Italy, might I add.) I believe the main reason they still can't get along, though, is that they believe it's the other person's fault that they can't. China still believes Japan has not apologized for what he did sincerely enough, while Japan is just waiting for China to accept his apologies already. The fact that the countries that they're closest to hate each other can't help, either, and they've never been able to communicate. I don't think China ever realized that Japan apologized to him even before he attacked him.

Personally, I would have probably chosen to have Japan choose to go to China first, realizing that not only would America not want to be the one saved, but that this would be his opportunity to finally prove to China that he wouldn't abandon him a second time. But, of course, if this makes my Ameripan fanatic sister happy, I guess it works okay...this is why I have a hard time writing about these two.
