Description This is the third member of team KRMN (Carmine), Malva Stella DiCaeli! I have to say, I had a lot of fun designing her, although I couldn't really decide on an outfit for her until the last moment. I still have some trouble with drawing weapons, especially rifles, and this isn't exactly how I envisioned it in my head, but it's the best result out of dozens of attempts.
I'd love to hear you feedback ! More info about team KRMN's "pissed-off porcelain doll" down below!

The RWBY franchise belongs entirely to Monty Oum and RoosterTeeth Productions.
My OCs belong to me.
/ / /

Name: Malva Stella DiCaeli

Nickname: "Pissed-off Porcelain Doll", given by her partner Nix.

Gender: Female

Age: 17

Race: Human

Symbol: An star shape with four edges, with a similar star shape in its middle.

Weapon: Bronte - Bolt-action sniper rifle with a bayonet. While it can take normal ammunition, it operates best on dust-based ammo, especially solid dust crystals.

Affiliations: Beacon Academy

Influence: Malva is the Latin name for the mallow flower, Stella means star and Caeli is the genitive of sky (caelum) in latin / Steampunk influence for weapon and outfit.

Height: 5’ / 152cm

Weight: 100 lbs / 46 kg

Eye color: Dark blue

Hair: Lilac, straight and short. Bangs swept sideways.

Status: Active

Occupation: Student

Handedness: Right

Clothing: White shirt with ¾ sleeves, blue vest corset and shorts, crimson ribbon around collar and thigh-high stockings, beige high-heeled ankle boots.

Outfit colors: White, blue, red, beige (secondary), gold details.

Physical Characteristics: Petite and slim. Extremely flexible and agile.

Accessories: Golden earrings, white gloves, beige belt and pouches, golden pin

Personality: She is a serious, determined and collected person, and a perfectionist in every sense. Short-tempered, blunt, extremely stubborn, and kind of a snob, she’s ready to go to extreme lengths to prove her point. But once around the people she trusts and is comfortable with, she shows she has a softer, gentle side. She gets stressed easily, especially about academic issues, and can be a pain in the neck about it. She is overly sensitive about her insecurities, and reacts badly whenever someone mentions them. Being popular was never her concern, and she often comes off as rude and antisocial; there are only a select few whom she calls her friends. She is capable of remaining calm and focused during a fight, taking advantage of her strategic and analytical skills. However, all of this calmness disappears if her opponent infuriates her, while she has the tendency to thoughtlessly charge in in these cases, risking life and limb to take them down.

Fears: Insects and bugs. Malva dreads the thought of failure and of being powerless.

Likes: Tea, shopping sprees, dancing, music, pastries, professor Peach’s class, being in control, books, formal dresses.

Dislikes: Bugs and insects, noise, being late, lazy people, disorder, being told what to do, gory horror movies, being lied to.

Habits:  Studying while laying on the bed, picking fights, being awfully stubborn, buying stuff on impulse, tidying when impatient.

Skills:

Agility: 10/10

Swordsmanship: 6/10

Hand-to-hand: 6/10

Offense: 9/10

Defense: 8/10

Accuracy: 10/10

Leadership: 5/10

Dust: Malva's weapon, style of attack and general fighting strategy is very dust-orientated.

Semblance: Dust destabilization - Active within a range of roughly 10 to 15 m (32 to 50 ft), it can make dust “burst” into its respective element. It applies on the 4 basic types as well as Ice dust, but it’s usually unstable with Gravity-type dust. She cannot cause mass explosions. It works on one target at a time, though, depending on the proximity of targets, chain reactions are possible. As long as it is within her range, she can make an opponent’s dust explode, whether it is in raw form or as weapon ammunition. Lastly, she often uses crystalline dust as mines placed strategically around her like traps, which she sets off in order to keep enemies away. Aside from when to set them off, she has no other control over the explosions or their aftermath, and she can cause great harm to herself and her allies if she’s not cautious.

Team:                                                                                                          KRMN

Backstory: Born in Atlas but raised in Vale, Malva is the only daughter of a wealthy family. Her father Roy, a retired Atlesian Military Official, and her mother Iole, a successful musician, spoiled and over-protected her, making sure she’d receive the best of care and education. Her doting parents would often meet all her demands, but Roy, as an experienced militant, would also try to teach her discipline and obedience to his rules. Stubborn little Malva, however, would frequently do as she liked, even if it meant breaking one or several rules. Leaving the house unattended and without permission was the first violation, and where her path to becoming an aspiring Huntress began. With the company of a book, Malva would wander around the small town of Nemea.

While out on her own, Malva came across Kris Leontis, a lion Faunus the same age as her, who was practicing his aim. Curious, she bothered him until he let her have a go at it. That day she found out that her aim wasn’t that bad, and that she and Kris could actually get along pretty well. Soon enough, sneaking out of her manor to visit Kris and practice with him under the guidance of his mother became a daily habit, which, unfortunately, she could not keep hidden for too long. However, her parents’ patronizing and stricter rules did nothing to faze her; if anything, it fueled her desire to become a Huntress. Undaunted by her father’s stories of Huntsmen’s ugly fates, and enraged by her parents’ belief that a frail girl of her stature could not correspond to the requirements of Huntsman training, she wreaked havoc in the house, until they finally gave in. After horrible fights and threats to give up on her musical studies that her parents had invested so much in, Roy and Iole let her have her way, hoping that she’d quickly realize her mistake and go back to her previous duties. They’d soon come to understand that Malva’s ambition was not “just a phase”.

In an attempt to discourage her from continuing, her father enrolled her in the primary combat school of Atlas Academy, believing that the military style of life and harsh courses would change her mind. That was not the case. It was nowhere near easy, but Malva persevered, and running on sheer stubbornness and willpower, she fixed her mind on succeeding in her studies and proving her parents wrong for believing that she couldn’t make it. She passed all her exams with flying colors, and moved on to Beacon Academy, joining her best friend Kris.

You're hurting me so many combinations of weapons you could do yet you choose something that people are doing already IRL there's no creativity you just made ruby cry …. You're worse than Jaune at least he has some creativity with his weapon.

Aww, come on, don't be like that! Malva's weapon is not the most creative (I'm well aware of that), but she's still pretty deadly with it!
In my opinion, this weapon fits more. At first, my idea was something completely different, but I couldn't make it work. It was a bit too far-fetched, even for RWBY standards, while it suited neither her fighting style nor her general concept. And maybe it didn't make any sense either. So, her weapon is as it is now. I opted to get imaginative with her semblance and fighting strategy instead.
Perhaps it is rather boring to you, but it's the way she combines her semblance and skills to unleash her rifle's full potential that makes it special. At least, to me.

What I like about your character is that she is driven not by doing the right thing or by legends (which is the typical OC motive) she just wanted to prove a point. That’s really my favorite part about your character.

I'm very glad that you liked it, because her motive is my favourite thing about her as well. There really are a lot of characters driven by the desire to become a hero -I have such characters. But I wanted Malva to be different. She's not doing it for fame, or money, or to save the world. She's doing it to prove a point. Stubborn as a mule, right?
