Thankyou very much for this wonderful critque. You have pointed out all the elements that I used to make this an interesting painting.
Cats are not considered subject matter for high art so I am trying to challenge that concept.
I do try and tell a story, this was a wild farm cat and it was very wary of me, a stranger with a camera.

thankyou very much Tricia, he was a wild one. The painting went to a good home, a major elderly cat lover whom I visited regularly, it had prime position with all her other paintings (she was also a major art lover) ..

She was in her 90's and all the strays would go to her place. She is no longer around which I find sad for me and the cats. She stayed independent well into her 90s, had an amazing garden (that she maintened herself) with lots of birds, she just told the cats not to touch them (and they listened)
