Great portrait!
Isn't often true that those shots you take after all is said and done may have a very different magic from the more deliberate work you've just finished? Yay for Serendipity!

Thank you so much for writing! Late is always better than never. Believe me, I lose comments all the time. I don't know how those who get dozen's of comments keep up.
Keep up the wonderful work!

True!
I just mark the two word comments as read unless they're one of my regulars or another artist. That helps.

Better late than never. If I leave a one word comment. I don't really expect a response. I just think its a bit more personal than just faving an image.

LOL--actually--I had a ROTTEN Christmas...in that I came down the dreaded Post-Nasal Drip type of cold the Friday before...and spent the weekend very unromantically trying not to choke to death. Fortunately, I hadn't any plans, other than a phone call to parentals and long-distance sweetie--and aforementioned LDS had sent me the first season of Macgyver for Christmas, so I had something to do while I was feeling miserable, anyway! (To make matters worse...I'm now awaiting a call from the repair shop to let me know they've finished fixing my car...and I can fork over $1200 thank you very much, for the pleasure of it. Yikes!!!!)
HOWEVER--those're just details. The yicky ones.
The good ones include the new camera and lens I just bought myself (BEFORE I found out about the brake job, thank goodness, or I wouldn't have dared!), which I plan on playing with during the next week, and learning how to use. Once I've got that mastered--I'll have to find me some new models--and then WATCH OUT, dA!!! (So yeah, I'm definitely hoping for good things in the New Year, creativity-wise! )
Much love to you, my friend--and many many hugs, from all the people you like best to be hugged by!

Ain't it the truth??!!! When you're sick--you just want your mommy!!! Mine's terrific for that. I can call her up and whine, "I'm SICK, and I want my MOMMY...", and she's all sympathy. For a few minutes, anyway, which is all I really want--just a little token sympathy, before moving on.
And yes, the long-distance relationship continues strong...I mean, c'MON--the man gave me MACGYVER for Christmas--what's not to love???!!!
As for brakes--yep, they're overrated. If you just drive slow and ignore all the honking, you can usually stop in PLENTY of time!
Come to think of it...it's been a little while since YOU'VE posted anything new, hasn't it? (Oh, not as long as ME, but for a while you were posting pretty regularly, it seemed. Taking a little creative breather?

ROFL!!!! That's right--Macgyver's and a stick of gum!
I *so* understand your artistic dilemma--since you know I've sort of been more or less there for much of the last couple of years, it seems! It's funny that now, when I'm brimming over with creativity, and have new tools on hand, I'm actually feeling very cautious about jumping in again. I actually want to really examine my work, and where I'm going with it, over the next week or so, to avoid the "quantity over quality" thing you're talking about. I'm afraid of doing work because it's easy--rather than because it's heartfelt. And somehow I imagine that you know *exactly* what I'm talking about right now--because you've more or less perfected a certain type of image...and a true artist starts to wonder if they're doing it because it's good--or because it's easy.
You'll get through it. You'll find something that inspires you...or a new way of looking at your work...or you'll just take some time to let the juices get refresh themselves--and then you'll be back, and better than ever! (Maybe this is the time to try exploring some of your own photography more? *hint hint* )
Enjoy the turkey--I've got a surplus, too--from Thanksgiving! I make a BIG turkey...then spend three days boiling bones. At the end of the three days I never want to see another turkey...but I've got bags and bags of frozen turkey stock--heavenly for dropping in a bowl of ramen noodles and broccoli, when you need a quick and easy dinner!
Also perfect for that turkey ice cream, of course, when I get the urge to make it! ROFL!!!

And yes, I know JUST what you mean, about some super pieces of art going unnoticed. :/ I rather think that the age of digital imaging has not only increased the amount of junk out there--but also the amount of quality stuff, as well--rather like the industrial revolution did, for art--by making mass production of reproductions available. It's cool--but hard to keep up with!!!
"Channeling"...yeah--that's what it is--it's having God step right in and take over for me...so that all I was, was just the instrument. It's wonderful when He does that--and leaves me feeling so blessed!!! Glad to hear that others feel the same way about their own work, sometimes!
(And thank GOODNESS, encouragement is free!!!! If it wasn't, I'd be in trouble right about now, cause money surely is in short supply, in this new place...and is likely to be so, for some time!!! Ah well--it's worth it! )

I love that you tell the stories behind the photographs: it makes them that much more vivid, and one appreciates the photograph more for the work that went into it.
This is gorgeously dynamic--the look on her face says 'bring it on' goodnaturedly, and the angle is wonderful. It's got such a cleanness to its angles, and yet it's soft, not sharp-cornered. I love it, absolutely.
