Description Oil pastel on cardstock. 8 1/2 x 11

Payment for a breeding to mapal 'sΒ FLS Greek To Me . Now just to do the breeding picture and there will be a new foalie~ I thought about doing a story, but I don't know your characters well enough to even attempt it. I'd probably butcher them and that's not really wanted. Nope.

So, long story short... Too many strides, one big leap and a twist to get over... and Isabelle is on her way to eating dirt.

Lol I thought he was the type. Does he make notches in his stall or girth?

I'm glad you do, he was lots of fun!

He probably chews a new mark into his stall door every time he ditches Izzy on a jump

Whoops! Poor rider xD

Oil pastels -shudders- I avoid those like the plague, I much prefer soft pastels! You did a great job on this though, the colours are blended so nicely <3

Haha indeed... No one escapes without eating dirt at least once in their life.

Really? I do like the soft pastels, but I don't actually own my own case (All of my pastel works were done with my sister's set). I picked these up on a whim and granted, the first couple were terrible because I hadn't a clue. xD But we've settled into a nice working relationship I think. Still working on details, but overall, I enjoy them. Less dust and clean up too.

Thanks so much~

I ate it 5 times It was fun~

Haha, yes! All the dust from soft pastels is pretty annoying. I ended up with a rainbow coloured keyboard because of them once, it was a joy to clean up -cough-
I like mixing soft pastels with coloured pencils though, the textures and effects look so pretty <3

You're welcome!

Mm. It's always a good change up of meals.

I haven't done that yet. I do have pastel pencils (Which I did not bring with me as I figured there was no point) which I usually use for detailing. However, I think pretty pastels will have to wait a few years when I actually have an income again, lol.

Looks like quite the exciting pose, and the background's come along really nicely! I bought some oil pastels recently but haven't had the opportunity to try them out yet, honestly they're a little intimidating to me xD

I notice also that we have opposite coloring styles, I always start horse first and background last, though not sure it's the wisest route

I thought that too when I first bought mine and my first few attempts were... terrible. I had to do a looot of looking at tutorials and videos and finally came up with a technique that works for me and looks nice. Baby oil is a great blender and oil pastels are one of those 'layer lots' before it turns out.

I used to do that first... but too many ended up backgroundless and unfinished. So if I make myself do the background first, it gets done eventually. And makes me practice backgrounds, haha.

Hm, I'll keep that in mind!

....I think you just cracked the code of why I have several dozen unfinished WIPs lying around

xD pft. Backgrounds are boring. Ponies are pretty. Once pretty is done, who wants to work on boring?
