Description The text bubble says, "Family! No! Where are you going? Don't leave me! No!"

Today, July 21, 2019, is the five hundred and sixty-seventh day of my Daily Dinosaur series, where I draw a scientifically accurate dinosaur and a human doing funny things. Today, I have chosen the diplodocid sauropod, Leinkupal laticauda.

Leinkupal is a genus of diplodocid sauropod dinosaur that lived in Argentina during the Early Cretaceous period. It was the geologically youngest species of diplodocid (family Diplodocidae) to exist, having survived the mass extinction of other diplodocids during the Jurassic-Cretaceous transition.

Leinkupal's name comes from the Mapudungun language of Argentina. In Mapudungun, the word "lein" means "vanishing", and "kupal" means "family", together "vanishing family", again referring to it being the sole survivor of the mass extinction of the diplodocids.

Here I have shown a Leinkupal and its human caretaker panicking. This dinosaur was quite successful, with a wife and a child. However, one day he saw his family slowly vanishing into thin air, and began to panic. This summoned his caretaker, who also began panicking as they couldn't figure out what to do.

That's all for now folks! Stay tuned for more tomorrow!
