Description Digital overwrite of a pencil sketch.  Finally making faces I like!  Yes, I could have gone all out and made all the lines parallel, but hey - it's a style!  Comments welcome. (I know one shoulder is higher -- nvm that.)

Hi! I saw your artwork from ProjectComment I would like to give insight about your work. I'm not a professional artist but I hope it can help you.

Overall you, you have a distinct art style of this work. I like it how you use lines and shapes. It's true that I think it looks more good to made all lines in parallel. It also looks cartoonish (it reminds me of editorial cartoons or caricature find in newspaper I don't know why). I ended up noticing that the base of your face is  square shape which you intended to be.

The face looks sharp and edgy. I was wondering if maybe you may add softer side, round edges like in the chin, jaw line or shoulder to add more human-like and feminine quality. The eyes also look larger. I also notice that the neck is a little bit small and the collar bones are too emphasized (making her look too thin). I like how you draw the round of her eyes. It gives color. It gives character and that is what catches my attention in your art. Maybe you may add some gray shadows to give more volume and depth like what you did with eyes.(I saw some of your art and it looks really great!)

Overall, it has some improvement but the style of this art is great. I hope this can help you!

Thank you very much!  I appreciate the feedback and suggestions.

After a lot of study and practice, I've finally hit the point where I'm starting to like the style of the faces I'm drawing.  One thing many tutorials emphasize is that the character lives through the face and in particular, the eyes.  At long last, I've got the eye/nose/mouth structure figured out enough to use and play with it instead of just filling space in the middle of the head.

A bit like drawing the Owl tutorial -- draw a circle and a rectangle beneath it.  Now draw the rest of the flipping owl!

When I become more proficient, then I can start with line work - weights and tapers especially.  For now, this is an accomplishment!  Now, back to work....

You're welcome (although I think I viewed it more as a viewer or audience because I'm no professional artist to criticize your work )
