Watercolour HP 300gsmCommission for a friend - OK, its not very likely you're going to get an owl to sit on a post in the snow, in daylight but that's what she wanted.
For all that, I'm really pleased the way this turned out and was loathed to hand it over but it is her place in the background. We dont get a lot of snow round here but this year we did - lots!

It might not be the most natural setting for a Barn Owl, but it still looks great! This is a really beautiful painting of a really beautiful bird. I love the patterns on the feathers and the colours of the owl. The background looks fantastic too.
I've done Barn Owls in coloured pencil, oils, and acrylics... and I'm thinking I'll need to try it in watercolour at some point now, because this has turned out brilliantly.
