This piece does show great illustration and great use in your lighting technique. It shows the viewer a great amount of work and detail of the mythical amaterasu. Not to mention your great use and properly done anatomy. However not original it is still a great piece that makes a warming first appearance and a intriguing way you displayed the fire. Though with a slightly lacking color pallet you made up with what seems to be a texture and spacing technique making this image "POP" and become more than your regular 2-dimensional image, and seeing that you are not new to anthro type of digital art this certainly surpasses my expectations for you as a artist.

Now, I'm no artist, so I must ask: when you say it isn't original, do you mean that Amaterasu is not his character? I'm not familiar with the term when used in critiques, so pardon this silly question.

its is not an original character is what it means. originality in a critics eye is when the character is a new idea and something that has not been created, say like a cat girl named sadet greeen. that is original because no one has drawn her before. though the idea of cat girls are not original, the character would be.

Ok, enough fangasming. Love the amount of detail you poured into this, especially the tail from tip to base. The front shoulder wings look so awesome. Your friend is very lucky to have such a talented buddy <3 I'd love to see you draw her Four Seasons super from MvC3 one day. Wii version really brought out the fun levels for this game for me, ps2 wasn't so bad though. I hope they release a new game since Wii U still fully supports the Nunchucks.
Not sure if you ever seen it, but would be nice to see someone do her final form once she gets fully restored and empowered. I bet you'd make it look sick xD

I like her better as a spiritual creature, she doesn't need hips tits and ass to be beautiful. It takes everything about the game, a cinematic story book experience with beautiful music, and cheapens it. You are an accomplished artist, this isnt about your talent, but what was done with it.

I knew that, or at least I thought Amaterasu was a Shinto sun goddess. I suppose that is why I had my initial reaction, when I was a pagan, I believed wolves to be sacred animals, messengers of the gods. I believed in things like spirit animals, akin to guardian angels, and mine of course was a wolf. I have 4 wolf related tattoos. However I suppose it was rather silly to get so upset over art.

Anyway, Amaterasu is a wolf goddess as far as I recall, and originates from Japanese myths and legends. I don't know the specifics though.

This was a request by my friend (birthday gift).
I love the character as it is in the normal (non-anthro form), it's not about trying to make her more pretty, it does not cheapens it.
It's like saying r34 art is not art, wasted talent.

I will be honest with you, I am extremely tired. I have worked the midnight shift with very little sleep, I was ungraceful with my words. I apologize if I offended you, I never wanted to come off that way. R34 art being art, is it really talent wasted or an expression as all art is meant to be, this is something to think about , if anything I should thank you for broadening my perspective.
