Personality: Charming // Diligent// Persevering// Bossy//Proud// Sharp-tongued // Abrupt // Argumentative // Judgmental
Platinumfire can be charming and kind to those she either doesn't know at all OR is close to. This has lead to quite a few cats (of both genders) being attracted to this cheeky and proud she-cat. However if you aren't lucky enough to get among her favored ones early on you must brace yourself to severe bossiness from her part. Whatever a cat must not do, and hopefully by now most senior Shallowclans know this, is do NOT do anything that would seriously annoy her! She will go after you, talking and talking without understanding the limits and to just stop. She is very sharp-tongued and won't hesitate to use it if you don't completely take her by surprise, rendering her speechless instead.
If there is one trait that stand out it's Platinumfire's ability to never give up. She has and still will perseverate no matter the challenges. The she-cat was very caring about her job as Shallowclan deputy and won't hesitate to fight for her clan mates the way a Lionclan queen would for it's kit's even now that she is a blind elder. She is grateful to Nightstar for all the help and support the tom has given her throughout her life. She is loyal to him and their family, not hesitating to backup any cat who is kin to her leader, even those that don't personally like her.
Preferred Weather: A warm day yet with a strong breeze
Likes: Talking with others, bantering, telling kits and young cats stories, spending time with her children
Dislikes: Cats who are closed minded, cats who are unwilling to listen to reason, self-serving cats, cats unwilling to listen to the other side of the story, mentions of Riddle
Extra: Be prepared for her to talk about sight in general when approaching her
Also do not mention Riddle or "the cat who killed Shalekit" EVER.
-Backstory -
Kit-hood :
Platinum and Rat’s mother was an old Stoneclaner who had left the clans during Darkstar (her mate’s) rule. Several moons following her mate’s death a small group of loners began to form, the she-cat hoping to reintegrate herself socially decided to join and befriended a runaway kittypet known as Spot. The two soon had two kits, Platinum and Rat. Gravity (as she called herself) raised her two kits only telling a few of her happy memories of her life in the clans, keeping every negative detail involving her mate’s murderous habits and her first son’s cowardly behavior. However Birch’s small group decided to one day raid Lakeclan and failed, the small team wasn’t fit for any type of battle and never even bothered properly training, Platinum and Rat were too young to participate but their parents went along with the idea. Spot died, the group broke apart and Gravity’s behaviour changed for the worse. The kit’s mother started to act weird, talking about another son and lashing out to her current children whom she declared were a disgrace to what was left of her clan bloodline. Unable to stand it any longer Platinum took her brother with her to seek the clans out to hopefully join them, not sure which clan their mother had first come from but aware of the territory borders they would need to cross to find a patrol. A Shallowclan patrol lead by Leafstar happened to fall upon the two young kits, the kind leader naturally accepted the youngling into her clan, making them apprentices and assigning them each a mentor.
Apprentice-hood
Platinum now known as Platinumpaw was raised under the mentorship of Gracefur, the two cats were good friends, the she-cat’s mentor was always there to cheer her up with her funny behaviour. However Gracefur’s occasionally random attention spans would enable to young apprentice to slip away, usually to go hunting on her own or just cause some trouble in general. This is how Platinumpaw first came across the Riddler, a tom who dwelled in one of the small caverns at the edge of Shallowclan and Stoneclan territory.
The Riddler, or as most called him Riddle was an intriguing loner. The tom immediately caught Platinumpaw’s attention and the two began to frequently hang out together. Around her many cats began dying left and right due to Rogues targeting the clans. Too occupied to pay careful attention the apprentice never realized that the tom she was growing closer and closer to, was just another one of those killers.
The night of her 12th moon the young she-cat snuck out, she was soon going to become a warrior and wanted to announce the news to her lover. However Riddle seemed different, he did not greet her the usual way, instead he sat silently in the dark, siting the names of a few cats Platinumpaw knew of Stoneclan and Shallowclan. When the she-cat simply blinked in surprise the tom turned to face her asking her who could have possibly killed those cats. The she-cat stood stunned, her mind slowly connecting the dots to where the bodies had been found. Unable to mutter a sentence Platinumpaw stood in silence, her gaze fixed on his back. "Come on, name the cat in front of you. Say my name!" Riddle chuckled turning to face her, claws unshed. A few moments went by, as the tom gave the she-cat time to think before he leaped towards her, ready to kill. However before the tom could lay a claw on the apprentice Nightshade lunged forward, the Shallowclan deputy had followed Platinumpaw to Riddle’s cave and had listen to the entire conversation. Intending on avenging not only the death of several of his clanmates but also his mate Moonfox. The two toms fought at the same time arguing over their past relations when Riddle had been a member of Shallowclan known as Wineeyes. Eventually Platinumpaw managed to overcome her shock and step in before any of the two toms could mortally wound each other. Riddle was told to leave, and not approach Shallowclan any longer.
Warrior-hood
Time went by and Platinumpaw, now known as Platinumfire began to grow attached the Shallowclan deputy. The two made a quite good team together and wouldn’t hesitate to back each other up (imagine, two cats with bossy, tough personalities picking on you, they made the perfect pair of annoyance. ). Platinumfire would often help the deputy out in his duties, taking over apprentice training when other warriors were sent out to make sure that the borders were regularly checked against League activity.
Ratpaw, now Ratscar would take any opportunity he had to lash out to his sister, partially because he was jealous of her relation with the clan deputy but also because of the gradual growing gap that had spread between the two siblings. One day while Ratscar and Platinumfire were patrolling the border they came across two loners looking to reach Stoneclan. The two cats bickered over what to do but eventually agreed to let the loners through their land, as long as they lead them to other side. During the trip Ratscar would take whatever moments he had to do nasty comments about everycat, the two loners were silent until the tom commented about how his sister had gotten fat. That’s when they spoke up, mocking the tom for being blind to the obvious. His sister was pregnant. It was big shock the both of them, especially Platinumfire who wasn’t aware of the younglings she was carrying. Leaving her brother and the loners at the Stoneclan border the she-cat raced home to announce the news to Nightshade. It was clear to her whom the father was, but she needed to share the secret with someone.
Queen-hood
Several moons went by after Platinumfire had moved into the nursery. The news of her expecting kits had spread like forest fire (especially when it comes down to Ratscar). Nightshade had promised to protect her no matter the cost, and had announced to the clan that he was the kit's father and was taking Platinumfire on as his new mate. Much to the surprise of his older children, Moonpaw, Winterpaw and Lightpaw. Both Platinumfire and Nightshade knew that the real father was Riddle, however no one else in the clan knew of the she-cat's meetings with the strange loner and therefore an unexplained kitting would arise suspicion. Painful time went on before the she-cat gave birth to two kits, Sagekit and Shriekingkit.
The two kits were immediate troublemakers, composed of personality traits of both their parents (Shriekingkit more like Platinumfire who hates to be ignored while Sagekit more like Riddle, relatively mean, mysterious and laughs randomly). Nightshade was a good father to the young kits, however Platinumfire soon began to lack milk and was forced to ask Mossfire to help care for her kits alongside with the queens other 3 kittens.
Eventually the kits were too old to stay and the nursery and all three were glad to move to proper dens. Shriekingkit and Sagekit being made apprentice and Platinumfire returning to her warrior duties.
That Dreadful Night
Platinumfire was not at the gathering the night of the attack, instead she was forced to fight off the wave of rogues who ambushed the camps on their way to the pillars. The she-cat fought like a lion, protecting her younglings from the rogues as they tried to take as many lives as possible. Ratscar who was part of the rogue group was forced to choose between his sister and his alliance. It was during that key moment that he chose his nephew and niece over anything else. The tom had become attached to Shriekingpaw and Sagepaw and refused to lift a claw on either of them, therefore refusing the wound his sister even if he hated her. The tom was killed, unable to apologize for all the mean things he had said but with a smile on his face. When the survivors of the gathering returned Platinumfire feared for her mate's life. But she soon learned that Leafstar had been killed and Nightshade was the new leader of Shallowclan, appointing her as his new deputy.
Deputy-hood
A few moons has gone on. Between all the clans Shallowclan suffered the least damage high-rankingwise and recovered rather quickly with the help of their medicine cats. What seemed to be a good start, however, took a sudden turn when Sagepaw was catnapped by a “white rogue”, causing both Platinumfire and Nightstar to be thrown into turmoil at the loss of the young feline. Things only went from bad to worse when Thornheart went around spending doubt among the clans, saying that "1 clan leader and 1 clan deputy are secretly working for the League". While she strongly preferred the keep her suspicions to herself, this act was enough to push Nightstar away from his clanmates. The clan leader suspected that either Streamclan or Stoneclan could be the culprits, but preferred to secretly search for clues so that he could (hopefully) gain an advanced knowledge above the League. This however, only pushed his own clan to suspect him even further, and causing Platinumfire to struggle under the pressure of managing both clan leader and clan deputy duties. It was with the help of her mentor that the new deputy managed to set up to her job and take care of things when he mate couldn’t, quickly becoming the cat that many in her clan respected and went to when looking for someone who was in charge.
Everything comes to an end, and the times ruling alone over Shallowclan came to an abrupt stop when Platinumfire was approached by Sagepaw good friend “Weaselfoot” who had managed to find the rogue that had catnapped Sagepaw…a cat that was now residing in Streamclan!
Upon discovering that Streamclan harboured the very rogue that had tried to catnap Sagepaw Platinumfire demanded that the rival clan hand over the elder for trial. This almost caused a war as tension broke out at the gathering with other leaders butting in. Finally Glazedscar agreed to come. The trial came and went with plenty of ups and downs as tension took a new peak. This however was enough to snap Nightstar to his senses, bringing him back to his clan to take on his full leader duties. Encouraged by his return the deputy discussed with her mate over the prospect of having true kits of their own. The leader agreed and several moons later Platinumfire announced her pregnancy.
The deputy’s troubles weren’t over, as a little before she moved into the nursery Sagepaw finally made him grand return, accompanied by a kittypet known as “Megan” who had suffered just like her from Riddle’s ways. Megan had quickly come to suspect that Sagepaw was Riddle’s son, and had accompanied the apprentice to find out the truth. While Sagepaw never knew of this fact, he carried just as bad news about Riddle, warning his parents that from an encounter with the loner he feared that Riddle would make a come-back in Shallowclan’s land.
Fearful for her new kits lives Platinumfire moved into the nursery the very new day, a moon later giving birth the six kits “Brownkit, Rosemarykit, Rookit, Lunarkit, Raccoonkit and Shalekit”. As she settled into the life of a mother once again the clan deputy did not back down from telling her new kits about the dangers that Riddle posed to their lives, hoping that the six of them would take her tales seriously…
Alas despite her warnings it was none other than Shalekit, the one that usually obeyed her and stuck by her side that fell victim to ignoring her warnings. Convinced to slip out by his friend Glintkit the two kits explored Shallowclan territory in search of Glintkit's namesake. There they tumbled upon none other than Riddle, who proceeded to question them about their lives in shallowclan. Upon learning who Shalekit's parents were the loner brutally murdered the kit before Glintkit's eyes, sending the little she-cat to alert Platinumfire and Nightstar of his presence. It was littered among a pile of fresh kill that Riddle had used to lure the kits that Platinumfire found her son, treated like just another piece of prey to the crashy loner.
Surprisingly, despite expecting things to go down Riddle never struck again. Part of Platinumfire feared that it had something to do with the fact upon hearing of Shalekit's death her son Sagecrest had left camp to hunt Riddle down, returning silent and solemn a few hours later covered in wounds. But the mother feared what response she would get from her son. Had he unknowingly killed his father? Was Riddle dead to begin with? D-did Sagecrest know the truth? All these were questions that kept the queen awake at night, eating away at her as she feared the answered. But soon enough a proper distractions would come.
The war and all after that
When the League first attacked Streamclan and Lakeclan camps Platinumfire feared the inevitable. Soon enough waves of victims came running to Shallowclan for refuge, some queens and kits included. It wasn't until a fire overtook both of the attacked clans territories that the deputy realized the number of cats harboured in camp and in Stoneclan were probably what remained of the other two clans.
Shallowclan was well prepared for when the League launched its attack on their camp. Lead by Nightstar's brother Wraithen the rogues invaded camp, met with opposition from the clans. The fight took many lives, including Wraithen's. However it was also here that the productive deputy who had her clan's support more than the leader lost her sight and what seemed to others, tumbled from her reign for good.
The rogues soon found themselves fleeing as the news that Thornheart had been killed during the parallel ambush on Stoneclan camp reached them. But rather than celebrating it Platinumfire's kits seemed to mourn their mother's wounds- much to the deputy's surprise.
After talking things through with her mate and clan leader Platinumfire surprised Nightstar by demanding that none other than Sagecrest replace her as new Shallowclan deputy. Yes he had been made a warrior later but the fact that her showed willingness to work to earn his name upon his returned showed how determined he was to stay in the clan, plus with Weaselfoot's kits due to be made apprentice soon there was a way to counter any cat that used that as an objection. The only thing that made the deputy doubt her own decision was one thing...his bloodline. Would it be wise to make someone with the blood of Riddle a high rank in their clan? There was no knowing what had gone down but the blind she-cat couldn't help but feel determined to hold onto the belief that Sagecrest and his upbringing and encounters with Riddle would push the cat down the right path.
The only thing that she feared was the secret that she still held onto...but it couldn't do harm not to keep it longer? The clan was filled with secrets anyways.
And thus Platinumfire moved into the elders den, talking any naughty warrior with her snarky comments into submission.
And this is where her story continues...
