Description This did not come out AT ALL like I wanted. However, it is something I did just to learn, and for that, it has been most excellent, if painful. LOL. I learned so much about what NOT to do when you are setting up a complicated render in M3D. Scaling the fractal (going from the smaller preview render to a larger one) isn't quite linear and in this case the suggested scaled render settings did not quite translate. So, this isn't quite the fractal that I saw in my preview LOL.  Also, I just didn't have the patience to do a really good job with the rendering so this one is rather smaller because it took so long for me to get things figured out and done.

Anyway, this is me, trying to pull together all the things I've learned so far about maps/textures/lighting and now adding the boardIFS function with reflection.  I did not realize until after the several long hour render was done that I could change the color map of the floor D'OH! so you are stuck with this background which I think really doesn't fit. Also, this was rendered before I learned a little bit more about adjusting the settings to reduce wild pixels.

AND yes, of course, I did my best to anti-alias in Photoshop Also adjusted curves and whatnot.

I will probably put my big-girl pants on and try to tackle this again, to get a high resolution version of this that doesn't suck

In any event, this is a further meandering that started off here:

*** UPDATE and a little giggle ****

dark-beam was kind enough to tell me that "Trifoxcomplexangles is a very hard formula to work with. It was made more for testing purposes."

Ahhh thank you Luca! I feel a whole lot better

Beautiful.
Is this pure M3D, or did you export it as an object?

Thanks Tjeb!

It's M3D - I have been learning how the program works and that was my attempt at adding a plane with reflections

Ah, I see. I'm more into 3D than serious learning M3D, Apophysis, Chaos or Incendia.
I visit the FractalForums gallery site regularly though.

there is a way to export from m3d so that you can import into a 3d program if you are interested in doing that. i will most likely be dinking around with that feature myself.

A few minutes after typing my comment, I thought "maybe I'm wrong and is it Incendia that has the ability to export a 3D mesh". I checked that and yes it's called Geometrica, sort of support program for Incendia. But if you say Mandelbulb can do that too, I'm interested.

M3D has some capability as a renderer - provided you don't want a complex scene -

Check into exporting voxel stacks. I've not yet ventured there [still having way too much fun in native render mode].

If you get anything going please do let me know, I'd love to see it!

And yes, it kinda of reminded me of a crown... but, originally this started off looking like an orchid!! which is where I was trying to go, but ended up with jewelry LOL.

Trifoxcomplexangles is a very hard formula to work with. It was made more for testing purposes.

audre In reply to dark-beam [2014-06-12 06:40:52 +0000 UTC]

LOL ahhh well that would explain quite a bit.  So huge irony here that I picked THAT function to TEST my skill so far with M3D ROFL.

Thanks for the info. I feel alot better now...

dark-beam In reply to audre [2014-06-12 08:20:09 +0000 UTC]

There are a lot of interesting formulas like AexionC, gencwarp, general etc that are less weird. Why not try?
GenCwarp should be put before normal bulb ones. Also you could try to put _celticmode

Just sayin!
