This is fabulous! What medium is this? And also, did you just take a screenshot of your game, and then draw/paint/create a totally new image with your screenshot as reference? Or did you just manipulate the screenshot?

Thanks a lot. It's a kind of extended reinterpretation of a screenshot. I basically redo as close as I can the original material. (I've added the link to the base screenshot in the description)

So you do this in Photoshop then? I think I've talked to you about your art before, but I'm an art student getting a portfolio ready, and I want to use Minecraft as an art medium (but obviously MC screenshots wouldn't be that professional), so I want to figure out how you do this. Do you use a tablet, do line art, and then use texture images for the coloring?

It's done on Photoshop yes. Actually the lineart I use is the minecraft ingame screenshot, then the big part is only photomanipulations, texturing, painting etc to enhance the basic material.

Basically I just take a picture, have a flash ^^ and get as close as I can to what I have in mind (roughly the same process for all my work with or without a picture as lineart cause I suck at drawing). In this case it was a XIXth century painting of a basic scenary with a funny mise en abîme inside. The most difficult is making the perspectives work, the rest is only photoshop skills you learn with time.

I think minecraft could be addition to a portfolio, you just have to make something awesome with the best render you can(with the help of a 3D program and photoshop of course). Because you can experiment architecture, sculpture, pixel art with challenging the constraint of minecraft.

By the way, I remember you I have planned to work on the pic you've given to me after this one ^^.

Oh, thank you for the explanation! I think I'll be getting a tablet pretty soon, so I can start practicing this with my shots. Do you do any editing to the minecraft screenshots before you put them into Photoshop (e.g. do you use shaders in-game for lighting and shadow, or a water mod to make the water more beautiful)?

Nope, I start with a screenshot only, not even a texture pack.
