Description

The depths are endless. Seliat wonders if this creature was displaced by humans, or if it was simply lost. Seliat has seen a few creatures a little like this one, though not nearly as long. They have a vague sense of the kinds of places they use as feeding grounds, so they decide to bring it to one of those places.

Reverie travels beside them, paws clinging to the back of a manta ray manifested of Seliat's light. It was largely a matter of convenience, at first — a simple offer of conveyance by one more familiar with traversal in the sea. She was cautious at first, climbing upon the creature, but now she seems delighted by the ride, and her pleasure makes something content hum in Seliat's chest.

They talk, during the course of the journey. They gather that they have gone through startlingly similar experiences up to now, and Seliat muses aloud about whether Makoa is involved. It would be just like him, to make some sort of convoluted "party."

Eventually, they come upon a region more inhabited; far below, various crustaceans skitter and disturb the sand as Seliat's light is cast upon the otherwise perpetual darkness. The haze of the depths resolves into stone formations brought into contrast by pale light and deep shadow; Seliat furthers their sight as they form more sea creatures of their luminance, fish and squids and sharks scattering their light in the mazes of deep-sea stone.

The creature seems to shudder, and, in a rapid motion, swims further out, closer to the seafloor. It spins out a spiral, casting a net in the region to await its prey. It settles quickly in its new home, its new life.

Then, a spark. It's easy to miss in Seliat's own light, but it glimmers in a warm way that reminds Seliat of the sun above. It seems to beckon, and Seliat turns to Reverie.

"Shall we follow?" Seliat asks.

Reverie agrees, and they go.
