Description Charlie is the first of my new line of plushies: teddy-style, made of mohair and with needle felted faces. I love how he came out (even though his balance when standing was a little off thanks to his fat belly, that has been fixed in the next bunnies!). I've been inspired by 's plushies for a long time, and I could not resist trying out something similar. I do have a great weakness for this kind of plushies, especially when they're rabbits! . This was my very first time needle-felting a face, and it was easier than I had expected (though still not easy, especially symmetry is hard to achieve). I hope my synthetic fabrics can handle needle-felting too, because if they can, it opens up a whole new world of possibilities

Charlie here is 25 cm tall when standing (ears not included). He has joints in all of his limbs and head and can all be posed as desired. Both he and his little denim vest are handmade and of my own design (my mum did help me with the vest, that was another first time for me haha). Vest is removable. His brown fur is of a limited mohair fabric and the white fur is alpaca wool. His snout and eyelids are needlefelted and his eyes are of black glass. He has embroidered toes and fingers and can stand on his own (but has limited balance, so he prefers to sit).

Charlie cost €80. He has been sold. I am open for this kind of commissions too!

It's nice to see another person do mohair! I can't wait to see more. I understand what you mean by limited balance though. I've had to sacrifice a lot of balance in mine for chubby tummies. I have tried needle felting on minky with limited success. It's cause of the way the backing is too tightly woven. I personally prefer doing miniatures in mohair still. Great work! You've motivated me to get on the ball about finishing my current line so I can do more realistic work later on. So many projects, too little time

Yes it's quite challenging when you're used to dense synthetic furs! I really like mohair though, and I'll definitely upload and make more (I have two more bunnies and one rat so far, with more added on my to-do list) The balance is what's most difficult to me, I wanted somewhat realistic proportions but still have it look good both seated and standing. I improved on that in the next rabbit, though I think Charlie here is still cute Minky is a knitted fabric, is it not? The faux furs I have are woven in a similar way to the mohairs I have (zero stretch), but are more flexible, so I suppose this calls for an experiment, haha. Your plushies are adorable too (especially the elephants!), I'm really happy to hear my work inspired you I'm looking forward to see your new work! I know the feeling! D:

There are synthetic furs that I've looked into, but since they cost as much as the mohair, I just stick to mohair since I can buy a yard and dye what I want to use. I can't wait to see more of your stuff. I'm definitely a huge silent fan

Oh yes that's right, you dye it yourself! That is really cool, I still depend on the photos on my supplier's website or go to fairs (I prefer that as you can feel the stuff too, but they are pretty rare in the Netherlands. Such a rare hobby this is...), the faux furs I have are a lot cheaper than the mohair (though still expensive: €0,70 per cm and I need at least 20 cm, the width is always 140 cm). I imagine your method saves a lot more money though. Is the mohair you use dense or can you also still see the backing once the plushie is stuffed? Aww that really makes me happy

I use sparse mohair because I make miniatures. A lot of the denser stuff would hide most of their features because of the length vs the scale of my work. Mine are around 12cm usually. One of my favorite bear artists is actually from the Netherlands, but I don't know where she orders her stuff from. I haven't been to a fair or a convention yet. They are really expensive to do. 200 USD for a table is a little out of my price range

I see, that makes sense. Mine are quite a bit bigger, though I do find miniatures adorable, I'm just dreading the idea of having to turn those tiny limbs inside out... Oh really? Do you know her name/website? That's very interesting Oh no I haven't had a table either, I just go there as a visitor (the entrance fee here is between €4 and €10 so that's not a problem, I often get a discount too because my supplier often sends discount cards along with the orders). I think I'd like to go there one day as a seller, but indeed, the price here is very high too, I wouldn't sell enough to make that profitable sadly. I do often take one or two of my plushies with me when I visit a fair, you never know who you may meet...

I turn mine with a hemostat though I originally did it with tweezers. Her website is hugmeagain.com The convention I wanted to go to is 200 USD though it includes meals. It's still out of my price range once you add up travel costs and hotel fees

He's very cute ^^ I like these classic teddy-plushies, too, and the needle-felted face is very pretty ^^ He's very cute when he sits, and I like his vest He looks a bit less soft than your usual plushies, but it might just be me who never had a teddy-style plush that wasn't rough xD

Thank you very much The fabric is very different from my usual faux fur and it is indeed less soft and cuddly, but instead feels more realistic (and this fabric is also a lot less dense than the faux furs, you can see the backing of the fabric at the parts where the stuffing is tight. The white alpaca wool is much softer and denser) Mohair is an organic product made of the wool of a special breed of goat, and you can feel that Haha, yes most teddy bears are not exactly very soft, especially the older ones. I didn't stuff Charlie as tight as those bears either, he's still sweet to cuddle with!

Ah, I see ^^ I only have old and hard ones, and then soft plushies of animals. Cuddle-bears are great xD ^^
