Description Story wise, there's actually not that much to delve into with Saoirse. She's Dawn's best friend since childhood, though Dawn's not exactly sure how that happened. Saoirse tended to gravitate around the more popular cliques growing up, but she dragged the more shy Dawn into her circle against her will. Classic extrovert adopts an introvert story. Of course, by their college years, the era the story takes place in, all those old social cliques don't really mean much anymore. They've all gone their own ways and went into the careers of their choice. It's only the really tight knit friendships like Saoirse, Dawn, and their other homies around Eagle Crest who keep in contact. Saoirse herself is pursuing a rising career in journalism with the city's top news organization, the Evening Star. She's plucky, persistent, and skeptical. Dawn's death was an absolute tragedy to her, and she really struggles to accept the supernatural antics that come about in the following weeks. But once her brother starts shooting fire from his fingertips and her best friend pulls the actual souls out of corpses, it kinda becomes hard to wave away. And of course, an aspiring journalist like her can't resist picking at the conspiracy they begin to uncover.

But that's a story for another day~

Design notes, I really wanted to lean into her Celtic heritage, so I looked up common fashion trends from Ireland. Lots of sweaters, it turns out. Which is fine, I love sweaters. I found she fit nicely into the niche of a girl who took a lot of cues from her Irish grandma from the Old Country. Hence the Edwardian pant-skirt thing and the Celtic knots. I wasn't quite happy with the color scheme at first. I find often when I'm not satisfied with a design, the colors can make or break it. Either the line art is iffy but the colors bring it all back together, or the lineart is really good but the colors ruin the composition. I actually had a previous draft where I made a lot more parts of the sweater green, and that was definitely a mistake. Ruined the flow of the design and just made it look bland and unnatural. So I started over, and I'm actually much happier with the end result. I really love this olive green over the more verdant green of the original draft. Meshes much better with the pant-skirt.
