Description Once these types of lanterns were used to light and decorate the streets and in buildings of China, now they are more of a fashion, being stuck around wherever a little zest can be added or if there is an opportunity to market something. People also have a bad habit of trying to steal them if they can reach them so they are usually put out of reach where sticky fingers cannot get them.

These are some of the more intricate designs for lanterns, and they have light bulbs in them rather then candles but they are still nice to look at. Many people have gathered in this park to have a look during the lunar new years celebrations. I have never seen so many lanterns arranged like this so it was a neat sight.

Canon 30V, Canon 17-40mm F4 Lens, Fuji Superia 100.

Reminds me of the lantern festival back in China.

Pity we don't have it in Canada, though.

are they made from paper or material?

the picture does look haunted because of the people underneath

it actually reminds me of the japanese movie spirited away in some weird part of my mind

they are made of paper with bamboo for the frames. I wanted a ghosty feels to this because just taking a picture of people standing there would look sort of boring for this shot since we already got the redish glow coming off the lanterns
