Description
It had only been two months since Gabriel and Frederick started their relationship, and whenever they were by themselves, they act as newlyweds. They were still so in love as if they hooked up for the first time every time they would hug, kiss, or make love. While their relationship was not a secret from their friends, it certainly was not the case for their family, especially Gabriel’s. Despite their relationship being a secret from them, they knew it would not last forever. In just three more months, their graduation will arrive, and it would bring them closer to room with each other in university.
Frederick offered to have a date at the mall, starting with Dave and Buster’s to play some arcade games. Gabriel agreed without a second thought, and with that, they waited until Friday after school to drive over to the mall and start their exciting date. Despite hooking up after their confessions of feelings for each other, Gabriel was a bit nervous for the date. He has known Frederick for a long time, but since they were boyfriends, he worried that he would say something incredibly obvious or stupid. However, Frederick was so mischievous that he never cared because he loves him.
Gabriel waited by Frederick’s locker, prepared for their long and awaited date to occur. Seventh period was such a bore that it made the whole class go by slow, which made the football player think that Father Time was teasing him. Thankfully he and his friend Abbie sat in the back and were able to play on their phones without getting caught or being called on for answering boring math questions.
The chatter from the teenagers was quieter than usual today, despite it being Friday. Maybe because since football season ended, there was no hype around the halls cheering for the team. Gabriel missed it a lot though. He enjoyed being on the field with his teammates and look at the crowd, hoping his friends and boyfriend were doing the same. Since he was far from the fans, when he blew a kiss towards Frederick’s direction, the girls that were near him would squeal in delight.
As much as he missed it, he would definitely not play in college. He has good grades so getting a scholarship from that could help. Speaking of college, the future seemed a bit worrisome for him. Will they even go to the same university? Will they still be able to live together? And more importantly: still be together as boyfriends?
“Hey, Gabe~!” the blond-haired man said, distracting the football player from his deep thinking. Gabriel smiled, winking at him in response. “Ready to suck at games?”
“You betcha,” Gabriel spoke up. Since they were still in public, it would be too risky to hold hands or get too close, but once they made it to Frederick’s car, Gabriel kissed his hand softly, smiling afterward.
The blond started the engine while the brunette opened up an app that held directions to the closest Dave and Buster’s. As they head to their destination, they began to talk about their plans for their senior class’s Christmas party, which is scheduled in a couple weeks. They wanted to go, but they also wanted to ditch and just have some alone time together.
Since today was Friday, of course, traffic had to be crazy. However, just the two of them talking, laughing, and flirting with each other helped make the time go by fast.
Seeing the building with the logo on it, Frederick drove in the right lane and followed the road that would lead them to the parking lot. He found a nice parking spot that was not too far but not too close to the building. They got out and held hands as they walked into the building. Thankfully, their state allowed gay marriage, so people would not bat an eye if they see two guys hold hands, despite some people that are against it.
“Welcome to Dave and Buster’s!” the lady at the front said. Gabriel smiled at her while his boyfriend walked up to her.
“Hello, ma’am! May we have a couple of Power Cards?” Frederick asked. With a nod, the redheaded woman reached out from under and grabbed a couple of cards. With a kind smile, she handed them out to the couple. “Thank you~!” the blond said, grabbing Gabriel’s hand and heading into the arcade.
The loud music swayed in their ears as they continued on to find some games to play for their date. They saw Fruit Ninja, Mario Kart, and more. However, Gabriel found one that looked appealing: Dance Dance Revolution. He stopped his boyfriend and pointed at the game. With a shrug, the blond nodded. Before they could play it, they walked to the ATM-like machine and paid for game credits.
Once they got one hundred credits each, they headed over to the Dance Dance Revolution machine and noticed a girl playing on it. The way she moved shocked the guys. Their eyes focused on her feet, then the screen. She definitely was not an expert, but she knew the game well and did decent despite missing some arrows. She tapped repeatedly on the white button centered around the arrow buttons. When the screen said, “Thank you for playing,” she turned her head and noticed the two men watching her.
“Oh, hello,” she yelled since the machine was really loud. “You two want to play?” Frederick nodded.
“Yeah, if that’s okay?” Gabriel asked, adding to his boyfriend’s answer. The glasses wearing girl nodded, grabbing her bag. Before she could walk to the bar, she said to the two,
“Sure, I need a break anyway. Have fun!” Once the young woman left, Frederick and Gabriel inserted their game cards into the machine and they were introduced to the gameplay with a song literally telling them how to play. Once the song said “right,” the two stepped on the right arrow. The football player stepped on it with a Marvelous timing, while the talkative man got a Great timing.
The two continued on to the song as one of them would laugh every time one of them missed an easy arrow, but since it was their first time playing, they just play casually. When the song ended, the screen said, “Enjoy DDR,” and it took them to the songs categorized under “Popular Songs.” Frederick checked the songs and noticed Ariana Grande’s “Break Free.” The brunette crossed his arms over his boyfriend. His pale blue eyes noticed Gabriel’s expression.
“What? She’s a cutie~!”
“I see how it is,” Gabriel replied with a hint of jealousy. Before they could play the song, Frederick planted a kiss on the brunette’s cheek.
“You’ll always be my number one,” he whispered, sending shivers down the football player’s spine. As much as he loved having Frederick whisper in his ear, Gabriel could not get worked up right now. The song began to play, and the two began to step on the arrows that appeared on the screen, whether early, on time, or late.
If a professional player were to watch the two guys play, they would have called them “normies” since it was their first time playing the game and that they were picking licensed songs. Thankfully, no one was around them, despite it being a Friday.
A minute later, they finished the song with Gabriel getting a B+ and Frederick getting a C-. The latter panted, placing his hand on his chest.
“Damn, you’re so much better than me! I wish I have more stamina.” The football player chuckled. He had more stamina after all. Once the song list appeared, the brunette picked the song “Shut Up and Dance,” which was one of his favorite songs, and one that if he could sing, he would serenade it to Frederick.
Unfortunately, due to being tired from the harder step chart the song had to offer, both of them failed the song, meaning they could not go on to the next one. Since it was game over for them, they left the game and decided to head to the mall and walked around. They managed to look at Abercrombie & Fitch, heading into the loud but wonderfully scented store. In there, they found a couple of flannel shirts for the both of them and purchased them.
After that, they went to the food court and went to the Chinese takeout section.
“Instead of eating here, how about we go ahead and head to my place and eat there?” Gabriel asked. Frederick nodded.
“Good idea. It is getting late anyway. Not to mention, it will snow soon so I don’t want you to get scared when I drive.” He winked at him, making the football player blush. Once they got their food, they hurried back into the Dave and Buster’s section to head to the parking lot where their car was at.
Once they got in, snow flurries began to fall slowly. Frederick heated up the car for them to warm up and started the ignition, driving to his boyfriend’s house.
“Are your parents home tonight?” he asked, his eyes focused on the lighted road.
“My mom is, but she’ll be okay with you spending the night, now that it just started snowing.”
Alright then~!” And with that, they remained silent, but the blond would usually place his hand on Gabriel’s thigh as a sign of being affectionate. The sight of snow falling looked romantic and peaceful.
The thought of enjoying the snow with Frederick made Gabriel smile with joy. Snowball fights, being on top of him as they kiss, cuddling, just all of what they could do made the football player hoped and pray that once morning comes, there will be more snow.
His thoughts of tomorrow came to a halt when Frederick parked at his house. Once he parked in a good position, the two got out with their food and headed inside, only to be greeted by Gabriel’s mother.
“Hey, you two!” she said with a smile, giving Gabriel a kiss on top of his head. “Had fun?”
“Yes, ma’am,” her son replied. “We were planning on arriving here earlier, but with the snow coming, better being safe than sorry.”
“Yeah, what he said~,” Frederick added, giving a hug to his boyfriend’s mother. She nodded.
“Well, it’s good that you two made it before it could get worse!”
“Alright, well we’ll be in my room if you need anything, Mom,” Gabriel replied, heading to his room with his food. As soon as Frederick followed him, his mom said,
“Don’t make a mess up there!” The blue-eyed teen said to his boyfriend in a whisper,
“That’s totally what she said,” the blond whispered to the brunette. The latter nudged him gently, embarrassed since his mother still does not know that he was bringing his boyfriend in his room.
Once the two made it over there, they ate while playing Overwatch, taking turns until one of them rage quit when their team was not cooperating well. Since it was getting late, Gabriel turned off his PlayStation 4 and changed into his pajama bottoms and white T-shirt, while Frederick kept his tank top on but borrowed one of his boyfriend’s pajama pants.
“Hey, love. I got a secret to tell you,” Frederick whispered to Gabriel, getting cozy on the brunette’s bed.
“What is it?” the football player asked, his hands slowly rubbing his boyfriend’s back.
“Wait until graduation,” the blond whispered, giving Gabriel a peck on the lips before cuddling into his boyfriend’s arms. “Good night~!”
He raised an eyebrow as Frederick quickly fell asleep in an instant. What is he planning and why mention to wait until graduation? Well, whatever question it is, the football player definitely knew that he will say “yes.”
