Description Acrylic over gesso over MDF board.
60x50 centimeters / 23.6x19.6 inches - 1/2 inch thick.
May 2017.

Sometime in the far future of the 41th millenium the Sun starts to set over a Lunar beach as Earth rises above the ocean. The bright blue star, by the way, is Mars; now terraformed.

This lunar sea covers the ancient lava plain called Mare Tranquillitatis, in which humans landed on a extraterrestrial body for the first time, so many thousands of years ago.

So the moon is rotating (to get an earthrise), not just synchronized?

Correct. Lunar rotation was accelerated and now day and night last around 90 hours each,
