Description
(Started Late February 2014, Finished Early March 2014.)
The World's End as many people know is my favourite comedy film to date, a laugh riot of a film that deserved a true master piece to be created as a representation of my love for the film....
This artwork request is dedicated to my cousin Jamie and my friend Keelan both of whom, like me, are massive fans of the film, and both of whom I first watched the film with during a screening of the entire 'Cornetto Trilogy' in cinemas last year. Which is also one of my most cherished comedy memories!
Like all of my best artwork pieces to date, I decided that, rather than rush in a basic background, I'd attempt to draw the World's End Pub, which proved to be harder than expected! I had to take reference from the pub in the film several times, and used an image of the real life pub which served as the location for the 'World's End'. As such, there may be a variation between my depiction and the actual appearance of the building in the film. The main image of Gary King and Andy Knightley was also based upon official promotional material used to advertise and promote for the film.
I had a blast designing this piece, including discussing the film with my friends throughout the process, watching the film on a daily basis to take influence and inspiration, and listening to the official original soundtrack which I purposely bought to inspire me. My favourites of the soundtrack being 'This Corrosion' by The Sisters of Mercy, and 'Loaded' by Primal Scream.
I hope you enjoy the final piece, and I'm rather happy with the final outcome! It was a great request to fulfil, and I look forward to eventually tackling a piece of fan art for both Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz later in time!

Thanks Anna! Ha-ha!
Sorry for the late reply again by the way! Yeah, I kept this one a bit of a secret! Ever since I altered my art style I've not been uploading work in progress pieces and such! Rather I find that if I just focus on finishing art straight away, whilst no one expects what I'm working on, then it's often better received and I'll see it to the end/completion more easily! That said, I still post WIP's and comparisons and such on Twitter and Facebook still from time to time!
Ha! You've nailed it! Or at least it's supposed to be Simon Pegg! His hair should be a bit darker really like it is in the film, but I figured lighter tones would suit the piece more! I think I've nailed it with Nick Frost though! You should really watch the film if you get the chance! It's hilarious! My favourite comedy film of recent years! I plan on re-enacting a World's End themed pub crawl soon in my local area, such is my love for the film! Twelve pubs, twelve pints of lager! I've got the Sisters of Mercy shirt, black jeans, belt, boots, fingerless gloves, and long black jacket ready for the very night! It's going to be...expensive!...Expensively awesome!
The canvas size is 30cm x 30cm if I recall! As are all my recent drawings! It's a good size to use, and if I ever wanted them on canvas I can have them developed in that size without having to alter the drawing and lose out on quality! Plus if you click the image it becomes huge on Deviant Art, which forces me to put in as much effort as possible to iron out as many flaws as I can! Though I do become tempted to slack off still myself, but so far I've managed to keep such urges in check! Ha-ha! Thanks for all of the kind words and feedback!
