The angel´s presence was as magnificent as always and even Rika felt a bit overwhelmed by his imposing aura.

" I don´t like her. And I don´t like you either "the capricious managed to whisper " Since you showed up, everybody´s life became a mess!"

That´s it, she said it.

" I´m deeply sorry that you, digidestineds from different worlds, became involved in "our" mess " the angel replied in a gentle tone " We never expected Lucemon and Saturn Angemon going that far ...but we will get him sooner or later. But..."

Ange made a pause and suddenly his tranquil nature turned into a harsher one.

" But right now, neither Yagami nor Nova shall be disturbed. Because my dear partner is finally opening herself to someone else, apart from me...and I bless Yagami-san because he´s willing to listen! And I shall let him support my partner because she carries such a burden that she really needs to speak up. And if someone dares to disturb such an important moment, I won´t have any of it. Understood?!"

And Ruki found herself nodding in silence. His passion puzzled her. The way he spoke, the way he looked at Nova was more as a lover than a comrade....

Nova sighed.

" Ok, kicking Piedmon in his holy place was just a temporary victory " and looked at the floor, sad " I was just 14 and thought I knew everything...but...At that time I had to learn, the hard way, about not underestimating the enemy. But I was too full of myself to realize that until it was too late..."

Ange, alias Angemon, prevented Makino from joining Tai and Nova.
His partner was about to share her darkest adventure with the digidestined of Courage and a meddling, hostile tamer wasn´t needed around. He hoped that this talk would jog some of Nova´s missing memories. It was hard for him to see her treating him as a mere associate instead as her hus...no, he shouldn´t be impatient. The loss was just temporary and sooner or later the Nova he cherished so much would come back to him. Now , emotionally speaking, she was just 18 and going through certain emotional challenges so a premature attempt to restore her memories could backfire....

He sighed once again. If this adventure meant about exposing secrets then Nova wasn´t the only one going through it. Ange also had his and he decided it was time to share his.

"So Miss Makino, if you are sick from hearing my partner´s story...why don´t you look through my memories, instead?"

The tamer opened her mouth. Angemon was finally willing to say something about himself? The jerk who almost never gave a clue and always made people go around the clock , clueless at best?

"If you put it that way..." she crossed her arms with the dignity of an offended Snowshoe cat " since you told absolutely nothing about yourself...despite everybody wanting to know more about you and your despicable partner...hell, yes!"

Renamon also wanted to know. This Angemon was quite different from all the Angemen she ever met. "Ange" as he insists to be called rather than Angemon, acting more human like a digimon...and more secretive than Renamon herself!

Ryo sighed, he already knew his story. He knew pretty well about Ange´s dilemma. He wasn´t only his superior, he was also one of his closest friends.
He cared about the angel as much as he did for Nova and wanted nothing but the best for them.

"Believe me Ruki-chan, there´s nothing to worry about. I spent half a lifetime working for them, they are wonderful people, I swear!"

Ruki said nothing. She´d been jealous all this time about Nova and Ange and the bond they shared with Aliyama-kun. For her, they took him away from her and didn´t realize how much she liked him until one day he left Fukuoka for good and didn´t return until many years later.

Ange put aside his staff and invoked his memories by projecting them in the air, like Nova´s digivice.

"Long time ago, in another Digiworld, 7 children were summoned from the real world to save everybody from evil. The children were supposed to be spending their holidays at camp...instead, they showed up in the digiworld. 7 baby digimons were already waiting for them....I among them, as a Tokomon..."

And he kept talking and talking, showing the tamers what happened in Adventures 01.

"Everybody but Patamon already mastered their powers, by yesterday having evolved into the champion forms and got used to the new forms and powers. But neither Tk, the youngest kid from the bunch nor patamon were ready to do that. Tk was quite young, scared and insecure. Patamon was very much like Tk and , let me say this, probably scared to change and become someone else. Their hearts, so young and pure needed more time to develop. But Devimon wouldn´t have any of that and finally was able to gather the power of the shadows, swallow them into his body and become a god-like creature that threatened to destroy the whole world...

The tamer felt her heart sinking while watching the digidestineds and their digimons falling prey to the mega sized Devimon, defeated and hopeless. But when Devimon looked at Tk and Patamon, ready to kill them, Ruki almost lose it. "SON OF A B...!" Her mind screamed " HOW DARE YOU...?!"

" But Devimon underestimated the little ones´hearts...because when in the midst of the storm, a miracle happened..." and Patamon finally became Angemon , ready to put an end to the war- I was summoned, at least.

Renamon and Ruki felt so relieved that they hardly could contain their excitement. Phew! So the holy angel appeared and was ready to defeat the evil guy and restore peace to the world, right?

" But even in this form, I was still lacking self-confidence " added Angemon " My heart was still beating with fear and didn´t believe my powers were enough to defeat Devimon. So I rushed up. Without giving a second thought, I summoned the rest of the digimons powers and fused myself with them...that was the only way I could be more powerful than Devimon, and I was right about that...I won.

"But... but..."the girl watched in shock how Angemon, right after defeating Devimon, began to disappear in the air" You... committed suicide?!"

The angel sighed.

" I...made a sacrifice. When you want to achieve a power that it´s beyond your hands...sometimes it requires a price. What I regret the most was causing the kids such a grief...that day, not only I died. Their innocence was shattered in pieces. Nobody, especially little Tk was the same...ever again. " His tone was filled with remorse, how many times he wished he acted in a different way? How many times he wondered if there was an alternative he did not chose to use, because of his low self-confidence?

"I tried to make it up. I was ready to reincarnate as a new digimon, and made sure to create a new digiegg right in front of Tk. My youngest self, Patamon, was already inside the egg. But something happened to the angelic identity... I, Angemon, was unable to leave the astral plane! I struggled for a long time but my efforts were in vain. Worse, I saw another Angemon´s soul entering inside the new egg and fusing himself with the dormant Patamon. I almost went insane...."

Meanwhile Nova´s digivice was showing Taichi Yagami and Agumon the next memories.

" I was incredibly reckless and naive "explained Nova" I actually thought I was as powerful as a digimon and fought against Piedmon without considering the risks"

"Go Nova! You are winning!" cheered Gomamon and his friends, amazed to see their human fighting hand to hand against the powerful clown. "You are freaking amazing!!!"

The armored girl kept fighting, more and more confident because Piedmon seemed to actually losing his security. He made several mistakes, tripping a couple of times..as if he suddenly didn´t know how to use a sword!

"I get it! " said Piedmon, finally, in a defeated tone " Gallantmon truly granted your his powers and without the gods powers in my system, even I cannot hold a good match against his essence. You won"

" You did it! Yahoo!!!!" gomamon shouted happily" You did it Nova!

Nova wasn´t so sure but she relaxed her sword for a bit...the following minute, Piedmon´s sword was making his way through her chest!

" OH MY GOD! OH MY FREAKING GOD!!!! "Tai ´s screams almost tore down the trees " THAT CANNOT BE TRUE!!!!!!!!!

Agumon almost turned into stone. WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?!

"Foolish girl! Did you really think that I was THAT weak? " Piedmon pushed his sword even further " Clowns are the best performers! I just mislead you for a bit, it would have been a pitty if I defeated your in the first minute. Ain´t I the best?

And Nova Takariyama´s younger self fell to the ground, bleeding to her death.

Tai ´s feet couldn´t hold him any longer and fell to his knees, absolutely horrified.

"I am so sorry" said the older Nova , softly " When a kid becomes a digidestined..everything´s supposed to be an adventure...like being inside a videogame. Because adventures are supposed to be fun...without deaths" And she hugged herself, as trying to acquire a bit of strength " But even inside a kid´s game, tragedy exists. And I remember saying to my friends, before passing out...

The younger Nova , bleeding to death on the ground, still managed to show a sweet smile and looked at Gomamon.

"I am so sorry, my friends. I am so sorry I couldn´t be the savior I was supposed to be... I...I ...wish I did better. Because...I actually like digimons very much...."
