harsh lighting or not she would still be browner than this and you know it, but if you wanna pretend this is a lighting thing then ok. I’m not here to argue, just disappointed my favorite character often gets disrespected by being colored moldy and desaturated beiges.

That doesn't help whatsoever when the end result still displays as her looking several shades lighter and blander than her actual skintone. She looks mega washed out and I don't know why you feel the need to defend this. It's still a gorgeous piece but it's frustrating to see people constantly taking dark skinned characters and painting/coloring them so much lighter.
This lighting excuse has got to stop. Is it really a common thing to draw darker characters in harsh lighting or is that just what people say to cover their asses? It's a sad excuse and all I can say is stop making excuses, use other lighting sources or maybe not draw dark characters if you're just gonna have them looking like moldy mayonnaise. 
I've said all I could possibly say on the matter, so we can just leave it alone.
White washing sucks. Stop doing it. Stop defending it. Have a great day.

No it does help because you're blatantly ignoring color theory in your rants. You blatantly ignored my proof which is kind of rude along with the hostility of your tone in typing. This has happened on twitter multiple times and it's attitudes like these and a lack of understanding that's resulting in people not drawing darker skintones altogether. Which really sucks for POC because you're adding to the fire that keeps people away from drawing these OCs, especially when what you're saying is ill informed.

She isn't washed out so much as painted in a very airbrushed and reflective style. It's very harmful when people attack art of dark skinned characters without understanding how rendering goes and color theory and perception of color go. While I do think the forehead is a little too light, there's several correlations that are similar to screencaps of Yoruichi.

I gave you proof and comparisons and you ignore how close and similar they are. And they were ignored. I pulled colors to compare to show you they are not whitewashed, it's just the way the artist handled the lights and darks and how they handle color depth.

Please consider looking more into color theory  and perception of color based off adjacent colors, warm and cool tones, and painting methods.

Even with moon lighting and blush, it wouldn't make her look that light skinned. Her arms, are not as dark as Yoruichi normally is, so yes, she has been white washed.

Did you color drop this? Because I did and it looks mostly fine other than her forehead. I wish people would at least post color drop comparison proof before saying things like this. No, I didn't color drop it, since I didn't know what that is.
Though I did check out your picture and perhaps it's my TV, but I always found she had darker skin than this. 
Sorry, guess I was mistaken and wrongly upset(for rl reasons not this picture).
So, I apologize for taking it out on this picture, it is a really beautiful picture and the artist did a great job on it.
