I don't know how many people know this game, but this hidden gem was made to compete with the 3D platforming era of gaming, against stuff like Super Mario 64, Tomb Raider and Crash Bandicoot.Well, we know how well THAT went...
But the soundtrack is ace. Like seriously. It's really diverse and intricate for its time (1997), and it has remixes within remixes. Especially that one where they remix their own theme music as a desert level samba derivative. EPIC.
If the groovy theme music alone doesn't get you hooked, then I don't know what will. If you got the time, you should definitely go on Youtube or something and give it a look.

Croc was actually something of a development engine for SM64 which, as we all know, took its own route when Nintento had some teriyaki with Argonaut. Of course, as you say, the rest is history but Croc was actually the first of the fifth generation classic platformers to lay its pipework.
