I had to take a photo of the Tsunami Memorial being built on the southeastern corner of Male, Maldives, for the cover of Evening Weekly magazine. The cover story raised questions on whether it was appropriate to build a million Rufiyaa memorial when there were so many people in the islands who didn't even have clean drinking water or a bed to sleep in almost three years after the tsunami struck. I had to wake up pretty early in the morning to capture this one. The memorial is now almost complete but it hasn't been officially unveiled yet.Related content

this is a stunning photograph... though I agree that i's something when people are willing to pay thousands even millions on a memorial instead of using that money to help those truly in need of assistance.

Actually this pic has become quite bodugulha. I gave it to Haveeru and several other sites, like Fact Maldives, has ripped it off and posted it on their site. Without even giving me credit.
