Wasting Away,
Fragile and frail.
Why empty like a soul in a shell?
Rapture seems so far away,
In this corner of myself.
No tears left to cry, all have ebbed away
Like blood
From a fatal wound.
All whom I believed I had, left me to swoon,
To monolithic regret,
In somber doom.
A fallen “angel”, broken like a statue, cold like marble
In this fractured night.
All that seemed right,
Now irreversibly wrong,
Like the pensive truth of
A broken-hearted song.
No passion, emotion drained dry,
No need to breath.
Forests of life all long dead.
All hope,
All light,
All convert to dread.
A dim flame in an arctic wind of
Predicted loneliness.
No lessons learned, no hard done.
But what is left to harm
But something
Cruel and numb?
