Description A commission for my friend Charlie.

Wild Thing, created by Tom DeFalco, first appeared in Marvel's MC2 title, J2. She ended up with her own solo title for a short time as well. The character, Rina Logan, was the fictional daughter of (equally fictional) Marvel characters Wolverine and Elektra, exhibiting the skills and powers of both, and a few extras to boot.

Having been drawn by Ron Lim in the 90's, she originally had a very glossy and trendy look, like many 90's characters. My aim was to go a little more textured, savage and elegant, and a little less slick and trendy. The snow is a tip o' the hat to my man Barry Windsor Smith, and the gore-fest in Uncanny X-Men #205.

This is indicative of my 6x9", $30 commissions. Note me if you're interested.

And thanks, Charlie Hope you liked it.

Nice drawing! But man, I'm not a fan of the "Logan having a daughter with claws" storyline I keep hearing about. And I had no idea the mom was supposed to be Elektra. Geez. If you ask me X-Men was just about the best superhero comic ever, up until the early 90's when Wolverine stopped wearing the classic brown suit, and that Gambit guy showed up, a lot of this other weird stuff started happening... After the early 90's pretty much everything they've done with X-Men has just felt increasingly awkward to me.

And I guess that's why I like this drawing because you made it feel more like old X-Men stuff... The BWS snowflakes are a wonderful touch!

By the way, have you seen this new Marvel omnibus book called "The Best of Woverine"... I got it for Christmas and it's ALL old classic stuff. The BWS X-Men issue #205 you mention is one of the stories they reprinted in that book. It is nice to see it all reprinted and recolored and crisp. As a fellow old-school X-Men fan, I thought you might want to know!

Thanks Bri!

I have NOT seen the Wolverine collection, but I like the sound of it. At the very least it would keep me from haiving to dig out my X-Men 205 when I want a taste...

Yeah, it's also got the BWS "Weapon X" mini series in it, and also that bad ass Captain America annual where Cap begrudgingly teamed up with Wolverine to fight Ultron... as drawn by Mike Zeck. And of course it has (best of all) the Claremont/ Frank Miller Wolverine miniseries (the one that made Wolvie a fan favorite character in the first place)... Nice to finally have that one printed all nice and in hardcover.

Actually her claws are psychic, somewhat similiar to Psylocke's Pyshic knives. I pretty much like everything Wolverine, so when I found out about Wild Thing a few yers back, I tracked down all her comics. I instantly loved this character and have always wished her series lasted longer.

BTW Andy, I love the darkness of the pic. It gives her more of a gritty dangerous look which I've always associated with Wolverine. Personally, I've always been attracted to the grittier noirish Wolverine/Logan tales like what you would find in his solo series and the Chris Claremont / Frank Miller mini.
