my first watercolor picture. i really enjoyed working with watercolors! they handle similarly to colored inks and i have experience with those, so i guess you could say it was a semi-new experience?obviously not too worried about coloring within the lines, and the picture is pretty plain in itself because it was mainly a test picture. i wish there were larger scanners available to the general public, it took me 4 scans to piece it together :B

Wow, this is one of the most - if not the most - beautiful Utena fanarts I've ever seen. I adore it, maybe because you've used your own style and yet it seems so recognisably Utena.
I particularly love the placement of her hand and hair over her chests, very artistic and just beautiful.

This is an amazing picture. I dont mean to start a flame because Im not flaming, Im actually not used to critique or even good at it but I know that watercolors is very hard to work with but maybe the next time you do it see if you can get the hair the stand out more. Im not trying to be offensive, you're a brilliant artist so Im sorry if I offended you. This picture is great just a tiny suggestion

i think part of the problem is my scanner -- it's pre-windows 98 so it's really old and scans in traditional pieces very dull.

The face is very pretty and i also like how you kept the watermark kind of out of the way. Sometimes i think when artists put it right across the middle of the picture it completely takes away from it

yes i did! it's not very noticable partially due to the paper i used and how i used it.. but i used salt on both her hair and the pink/blue thing in the background.

This is a brilliant image; you've managed the medium perfectly, this is so elegant and beautiful and you really capture the 'essence' of Utena well. Definatley a different type of Utena fanart, which is wonderful to see!

Try tossing salt on the wet paint to create textures.

yep, i did! i guess it's hard to see. my paper wasn't taking the salt very well, the salt would stick to the paper a lot... i was using strathmore bristol paper, maybe a different paper would show the salt effect better?

o_O Hmmm. The salt reacts differently to different paper, paint, paint colors and wetness level
