Growing up, I was taught to look down on humans who were different. Homosexuality was wrong, I could marry anyone outside my ethnicity, I'm a female therefore I must obey my husband...We are born by chance. It is not my fault I love another.
We cannot pick where we are born. It's not my fault my eyes slant.
Why are we judge based on what we cannot choose? I refuse to listen to another because you tell me too.
I was born. Created. What makes me any different from you?
Eh, I just needed to blow off some steam... sizzle.

Woooah... This is pretty deep. O_o But the artwork exemplifies your words by tenfolds....and vice versa.
I suppose your comments are based on the culture and society that you have been brought up....these are things that are not easily expressed in your country, but the merits of human expression and freedom of speech have been taken for granted in North America for a very long time now....all my life.
My parents and forefathers, too, have been brought up very traditional and I too have been preconditioned to look at someone outside our race differently as well. But growing up in a multi-racial, multi-ethnical society allowed me to see past all colors, divisions and religions.
Although we are still facing ethnic and racial tensions everywhere, I find myself somewhat precocious of the fact that ethnic diversity, freedom of expression, is to be heard (though may not necessarily accepted due to personal opinion), I can imagine an individual such as yourself may find the North American culture a bit shocking, and could take some time to getting used to.

I have issues with my country. I love it, but I hold issues. It's part of the reason why I came to school here. I wanted to part from her for awhile, and getting myself into an Ivy League was the only way for my parents to be supportive and proud. I can't tell them the truth, and that is that I want to the defy the rules my society has placed for me...
I wish I grew up in a multi-ethnical enviornment. It was a shock for me, but strangely enough, I quickly grew over it and appreciated the freedom of opinion I had.
I don't want to be called a socialist, labels are so idiotic, but I guess I'm close to one. Shame on me.
And don't say that, never, I miss this

LOL yes shame on you for labelling yourself in this day and age and being politically incorrect!!! Ahhh I'm joking I'm joking!! I too wish for a more socialist society as the people and capitalists in North America have gotten far too reckless on abating authority upon governments and even sectors in our culture.
I hope somehow you can set an example for many chinese who have been hung up far too long in pleasing what's right for the state, and as you say, defy the rules set by your society that through your artistic expressions, your lavish cosplay events
