I love how soft the waterfall looks with the ruggedness of the landscape around it. Also, the colors. Can't forget that. It makes it feel very fairytale. Like real, legit, Neil Gaiman kinds of fairytales.

Wow dude, amazing. But shouldn't it have been a lot lighter/overexposed when using such a long exposure time?

Bakisto In reply to DistortedEchoes [2013-12-20 17:14:37 +0000 UTC]
Thanks man ^_^
during a normal sunny day yes it would be completely over-exposed. this was taken very early in the morning right before sunrise.
Also using a circular polarizer acts somewhat as a ND filter artificially lengthening exposure times. It's a pretty nifty trick if you want a long exposure without overexposing.Β

Thank you thank you
It's not too difficult.. Use a long exposure (slow shutter speed) and a tripod. I think this is a 20 second photo. Β I also use a circular polarizer to control reflections from the water and rocks

Thank you for responding! I'm currently in the process of learning about exposure and all the technical bits and bobs, but with easily the most boring topic ever 'still life' It just makes the image look so magical!

I just love everything about photography :') I annoy everyone I know as my camera case squeaks as I walk along, and I ALWAYS have it on me! One day I might even be able to take a nice photo!

dedication and careful planning will get you the shots you want.. I still have a lot to learn myself o.O
Plenty of photographic opportunity in the UK! I lived there for two years. You should go to Snowdonia and take your camera along! It's my favorite place in the world for camping/hiking/photography.Β
