Description FINISHED!!! First piece I finished within a two day attempt. I am really happy with my first attempt of realism. This is Poison Ivy found a photo reference a girl cosplaying. I love it! The waist I feel I need to go touch it up a bit.

This was a lil challenge with a fellow deviant ~topistops
I am planning on doing a Harley Quinn realism piece so would love to get feed back on this and near future pieces I plan to do.

The actually photo I use was a fellow deviant, photographer so here is the link to their work. [link]

and the actual photo I used which is breathtaking!

She looks very pretty!

Here are a few tips for realism (not in a mean way)
Try avoiding any form for lines. If you look at a person there will not be any outlines; only shadows.
The eyes should not be too big. The face has a few basic rules that apply more or less to everyone. [link] Here is a nice tutorial for proportions
Do not be afraid of using a lot of pencils! My most used ones are 2H, B, 3B, 5B, 6B and 8B. This will give you a lot of different tones and values.
If you feel something about the drawing is off (compared to your reference) then flip the drawing and the reference upside-down. This will allow you to look at it in a much more understanding way. You see the shapes instead of seeing eyes, nose and lips.

I hope some of this was useful

Thanks!

I do not take your words of wisdom as mean! I take it as your trying to help me and I appreciate that! OMG people already using fireworks... I jumped right now, but anywho, I am always afraid to use the other darker pencils, I use 2h, 4b or something. I gotta grow some man balls and do it! lol upside down mmm I shall try that! Will it work for animals??? [link] this lil bugger is HARD! Well I've never really done animals

You helped me thank you! Llama time!

Yes the upside-down method will work well for anything. It lets you see the shapes instead of the expected featured I do that for all my drawings
I havent done any animals either.

Awesome! Oh and I'm not talking about doing the entire drawing that way. Just every now and then to check that it's all right. If I have trouble shading something it usually works better upside-down

I really like the hair and the wrinkles on her dress.

Next you should try working on lighting perspective and shadows. Her right side is underneath her but there's not much shadow there besides the bit behind her hair.
