Description
I swear I've been working on and off for months. The map is almost entirely OTL with just a couple of names changed, and some artistic license taken. It's been ridiculously difficult to find information on the region, so forgive me for the fudging of borders, the arbitrary standards for inclusion on the map, and the very vague standards for 'Muslim' vs. 'Native'.
Basically this is a map of West Africa in 1855 in my timeline (Napoleonic PoD in 1796). Butterflies haven't significantly impacted the African interior yet, but the Toucouleur conquests will be the first major difference from OTL - my original plan was to make this a series of maps showing a succession of West African empires, but I'm not making any promises as to how that'll eventually turn out.
