Given the typing, I'm surprised you didn't give it big wing-like pectoral fins like a flying fish. Not bad regardless, though - and I really especially like the gender differences!

I get that, yes, and I know it worked for Mantine and Gyarados too, so I'll concede that I could be wrong about the wing-fins bit. But my critique is that it still looks exactly like a dorado fish, as did the previous draft version. Giving it features to help it stand out as a more fantastical creature would go a long way towards improving it - heck, even Basculin, who I consider as blatant filler since it doesn't evolve in canon, has that cartoon piranha jaw and spiny fins. IDK, could be worth experimenting with this design a little more in the same light...
