Description Sometimes the most important sketches in a sketchbook are not the finished ones, but the ones where you are experimenting and try to learn how to understand subtle aspects of a more complicated environment, device, individual, or organism.

These are study sketches I did back in 2007 that are in the sketchbook that is currently up for sale on Ebay link I was trying to get a better understanding of rain and how it interacted with objects, so as I sat in a cafe one morning I looked out the window and did these sketches. All to often it is easy to only focus on the parts of a picture that we think are cooler and give them all the attention and love, but if you do make an effort to understand how the environment of the picture works you end up diminishing the impact of the thing you love so much in the picture.

I hope you like what you see. Please help make more art like this possible by supporting me at Patreon

How I'd love to be able to do this. Or at least as easily as you. ;w;

One of the most important things I have discovered about creating art is being able observe your world around you and then render it in your work.

I wonder how the 'teardrop' shape came to be. It obviously doesn't happen IRL.
