It used to honestly bug me that I've done several variations on Ghostbusters pictures but have never done one that could be construed as "great". With this one, I'm a step closer to achieving that goal, what with combining Mattel's Ghostbusters figures with Doctor Who (they make great civilian figures by the way, for anyone curious about filling out their groups of crowds for photography) as well as rolling out the old Kenner Ecto-1 (I didn't think the scale would work for it but it's almost believable there) and a couple other nice touches to enhance the Boys in Grey finishing up a job.

I tried to create a color palate very similar to how the original movie--so bizarre now to be calling it that, what with Paul Feig's reboot film due out this summer--was shot. I haven't seen the 25th or 30th anniversary Blu-Ray editions yet to know if the colors were fixed but there is a definite gritty muting to the 1984 film, comparitively different from the bright and vivid colors of the sequel five years later. As such, it was a pain to try and recreate that atmosphere and moving the lights in different ways to showcase what I wanted and even getting the focus of the figures the way I wanted. The final pin to creating the finalized image happened by accident when I whipped out my handy external Flash and zapped the picture, and forgot that I was in an elevated position. It came out looking much more realistic like I was hoping for.
