Also, I have NO idea why the would have cotton balls and as for Ironhide knowing where they are... no clue. I had a hard time figuring out who else would be in a med center at this point. Wheeljack and Perceptor would be doing science stuff and first aide is probably younger than ratchet by quite a bit... and Ratchet's an intern? brand spanking new medic? at this point.
