Personality: Tony is a bit of a slacker. He has been an upper-middle class city boy all his life and isn't used to not getting things that he needs. His only real ambition was to make it big on the silver screen, and he didn't even pursue that particularly strenuously. He makes friends fast but has a history of losing them just as quickly, usually through his own immaturity and bad decisions. Generally he is fairly level-headed, though, and has learned to keep quiet to avoid being picked out of a crowd. He is very concerned with appearances and always tries to come off as positive and appealing, but only if that can be achieved with minimum amount of effort, often to the point of flat-out pretending to be useful. Despite all that, he is genuinely kind and doesn't like seeing people get hurt.

He joined the military because his dad cut him off financially and he ran out of money. Of the available options to rectify that situation, flying planes seemed least lame so he went with that. His current strategy is to try and avoid being given any kind of responsibility. Unfortunately for him, his new partner Ace the Emolga isn't going to let him lie down on the job.

Backstory: Tony grew up in Celadon City. His mother died in childbirth so it was just him and his father, who routinely expressed disappointment in him despite its lack of effect on Tony's enthusiasm. His father is a veteran, whose wily investments after the Great War were the source of his son's privileged lifestyle. He finally stopped giving Tony money when it became apparent that he wasn't doing anything with it except partying and going to the theater. Tony lasted a few months on the charity of a friend, but after spending a while homeless on the street, a fortuitous military recruitment poster made him consider the benefits of being a flyboy.

Living in Celadon, he has had no interaction with Pokemon, tame or feral. When it came time to choose a partner, he picked Emolga because it seemed pretty likely that no one would ask too much of the cadet with a squirrel.

Pokemon bio / personality: Ace is a whirling ball of energy. She is quite attached to Tony and is usally perched on his shoulder or head, but their personalities couldn't be more different. She enjoys fighting and danger and will actively seek it out, dragging poor Tony along whether he likes it or not. She has a bit of a Napoleon complex and likes to prove herself against larger enemies.
