Here's another image from my last session with ^wynnesomeThis image is all about the design... so into Body Paint it goes.
Profile, the first image from the series, for me rides that line between Body Paint and Makeup.I say this because Profile was all about the face, with the design playing a supporting role.
Closed is all about execution detail. Body Paint it is.
Now, I could have done this with eye shadow and eye liner. Would that have made a difference to categorization?
Thoughts? Lemme hear them....

I love how the gold lining in this is so intricate. It's a very beautiful piece, and I love artwork like this. It's inspiring. I would love to see it in other colours too just to see the difference. Perhaps you could try using some high pigment shadow? Mac do some good colours for this sort of thing and they're great for blending. I think they do gold eyeliner too which is quite bright, good for line work. I've added this as a fave to my profile. hope you don't mind.

I don't think I could have gotten the level of detail with shadow - but the gold eyeliner would be fun to play with.
Wonder eyeliner would have the same level of control...?
Mac has some good products, but I don't love their shadows. Yaby and Makeup Forever are my go-to's. Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics has some awesome loose colors.
Don't mind the Fave at all!
It will probably be a while before I come back around to doing this kind of body paint.

This is amazing. It evokes that strange, otherworldly feeling that I always get whenever I'm reading or watching anything about Egyptian mythology. I love that the black isn't JUST pure black; it has some blue in it. That, combined with the gold outline, makes it a lot less harsh than it could have been.

I fell in love with Egyptology as a child thanks to National Geographic.... and the Eye of Horus necklace was always a favorite.
The texture of carving and inlays is what I wanted to capture on the face.

I fell in love with a National Geographic photo of a stone necklace when I was a child.
The nice thing about being an artist is that every once in a while we can re-visit those childhood fascinations.

Very nice . The left eye should have a tear below it " the Moon " , The right eye no tear " the Sun " . As Shrek would say the Egyptian gods had layers upon layers .

Eye liner would have been a very different look, possibly one that is more....what's the word.....whimsical? I like how deliberate this is, and how the colors spark and dance. Very nice detail.

This image has a lot of deceptive distortion used in order for elements to shoot "true".
For instance, the circle element in the lower right hand corner was painted as an oval in order to compensate for the foreshortening that would happen in-camera.
Eye liner would have narrowed the eye even more, making the iris smaller still.
Gold was used as the eyeliner as it became apparent on set that the lashes would all but disappear into the lapis blue. As it is, the element I'm least pleased with is the lapis under eye area as it bulges more than I'd like.
