JESUS CHRIST. this picture makes me think about how the next devil may cry game should be dante fighting these to prevent the apolpyse.Β it would start with someone trying to summon them, this would make a perfect DMC STORY. anybody else think so?

I love these designs so much. I think my favorite has to be how Pestilence's horse has a design similar to a plague doctor, with its hood/cloak and the long beak-like skull. Using an ox for Famine was such a good idea, it fits perfectly. The attention to detail, the beautiful colors and the out of the box ideas throughout this are amazing, even the birds look really creepy and cool.

Famine, War and Death all carry pestilenceΒ

Famine generally leads to Pestilence. Regardless if Pestilence is a later interpretation or not, Pestilence rides with the horsemen.

Death's horse being upside down can represent how death itself is the opposite of life in every way.Β The scythe is a tool for harvesting grain, yet it is used to harvest souls.Β A horse's life depends on its legs, for if one gets broken or injured, that horse is done for.Β As for the Pestilence/Conquest debate, I'm leaning more toward Pestilence due to the fact that War and Conquest have long become nearly one in the same, and the miniature building on the back of the ox looks like a Gothic church, a place where the people gathered to pray for an end to the Black Plague, but ended up only spreading it faster (If I am not mistaken, the churches were somewhat involved in collecting and disposing of the plague dead).Β Another hint is the single raven perched on the top of it, as flocks of ravens would gather to feast on the masses of dead bodies.

Obviously looks great! My favorite part is the warped, unnatural design of the horses themselves. Secondary favorite would be the visual differences between the riders that make them clearly distinct from one another.

Maybe most uneducated people. From my experience people know that Conquest is there but prefer the popular culture's Pestilence for the purposes of fantasy settings where we most commonly see them referred to today. But really your post just reads as a passive-aggressive means of putting down people who are unaware of this tiny fact simply because they are disinterested in the topic in a vain attempt to feel smarter. If it wasn't, well, phrasing.

Epic. Just epic. I love how you managed to make it look sufficiently terrifying while still keeping some humour in it. Death's horse is a riot all on its own, and somehow Death still manages to look solemn and scary while riding it. That's skill, man. Funnily enough, he's the only one whose horse is actually a genuine horse (though I'm not sure about the chest-mouth, what's up with that?). The others are a horse-bull hybrid, an oxwith a church on its back, and something weird I can't identify. Possibly part croc, with a muzzle like that. Though the tail susgests its a weird hybrid too.Β
And let's not get into the tentacle-lion-cerberus in the background. That thing is an Apocalypse on its own.Β

I love that Death's horse is inverted, that War is so ready to fight he cant even sit and how famine has a skull bovine....and pestilence is so gross he's gotta stay a few feet away from everyone else.

Death's horse looks like it's having way too good a time right now, and Death is just trying to be chill about it all. It's not like he intended to show up at the start of the apocalypse with a drunk horse.
