Description Drawing of a scene from a book my English class is working on. Despite the book being like really short and old it was probably like one of the best books I’ve read. So we have 4 projects to do for this book and you can choose like 5 topics within those projects and there’s one art topic one in each of the projects so it’s a win win for me cause I would have made fanart for this book on my own will anyways. I’m really proud of the result for this though, I was about to make it super crappy and bland, cause like, a stick figure in English class is good enough to get an A for this project, so I had low standards in how hard I really wanted to try.

I pictured the characters a little differently than how I drew them here cause I didn’t want my English teacher to think I was weird lol.
School is ending in a few weeks so I will have a lot of work so I’m not sure if my art schedules will shift or not. I made a drawing of miles in armor and stuff and I’m rlly excited to post it but I draw him too much and I want to wait it out before I post him again.

Trust me, in a few years time, you'll be extremely nostalgic about it, especially if you guys try your best to make happy memories.
Our group and our two teachers went out on a dinner at the end of the school year, it was such a fun night

(btw your art is amazing holy cow can I stay??)

Oh yea I know what u mean, and yea I am trying to make a happy memory with this and it’s working out pretty well, I know I’m definitely going to miss it. Also that sounds amazing, I wouldn’t believe teachers could do that, ur so lucky omg.
And thank u so much aaa!

Apparently, we've been lucky enough to have teachers that were both good at their job and didn't keep their distance
And thank you as well!! I hope we can watch each other grow as artists

Oh god... I remember reading Of Mice and Men in English. Loved it, but it was immediately followed by the Great Gatsby. A book that was technically beautiful what with all the masterful descriptors, but completely devoid of anything else of substance. For me Gatsby was such a slap in the face after reading Of Mice and Men, a book that was much more raw and emotional than Great Gatsby will ever be. I don't know if it's just me, but it's kinda hard to go from two guys wanting to 'live off the fatta the lan' to some entitled rich boy crying about how some woman won't love him. If anything it made me love Of Mice and Men more.
All ranting aside, this piece captures the feel of the book perfectly! I really like it a lot!

Yea now I can trust my teachers to give us decent books for projects now, I’ve had boring books before but of mice and men kind of set my standards for a book super high now so I can totally see what you mean. I think we might be reading the great gatspy next year actually, or I think to kill a mocking bird, I’m not sure yet. And thank you so much!

To Kill a Mocking Bird is pretty good! It's similar to Of Mice and Men. Normal type people who live in a normal neighborhood. I won't spoil much, but it's America during the early 1900's and it deals with the race issues of the time, and it's a really interesting conflict! I enjoyed it so much more than Great Gatsby, but most people seem to like it, so maybe my opinion's moot.

Yea that’s one reason why I’m excited for to kill a mocking bird because of its 1900’s setting. Maybe I might make fan art for that book as well once I read it. I just get a rlly promising vibe from that book. By how u explained the great gatspy, the story line doesn’t seem appealing to me either

Yeah. I feel like people who resonate strongly with Of Mice and Men don't care for the Great Gatsby as much. Both me and my mom hated it and loved Of Mice and Men.
But yes, To Kill a Mockingbird is good.

Man, for a second I thought that was Phoenix.
Of Mice and Men was pretty short, and I wish I remembered what I read because I only understood the basic plot and felt that it was an okay story to read.
Then again, its been a few years since I read it, so...
But regardless, I like the monochromatic values! Gives it a dusty feeling. Which scene in the book is this based on?

noticed that too with George actually, I secretly did imagine lennie and George as similar appearances to 2 ace attorney characters but i had to change George’s hair so people wouldn’t look at me weird. And I see what you mean, it also might be a while till I read it again who knows. And thank you! That was a vibe I was aiming for so it worked out! It’s the scene where Slim and George are talking to each-other in the bunks while playing cards.

I’ve only read Travels with Charley, but from what I’ve read Steinbeck is definitely a book worth drawing xP
i love the lighting! Gives it a noir style that’s perfect (at least for when this was published) for the book.

Steinbeck has impressed me completely his writing is amazing, I didn’t know he made other books cause I would totally read them. Thank you so much! I tried to give it an old feel

Oh yeah, definitely! I like how (at least in the book i read) he ponders a lot about how different people he’s met react to different things and ponders on his own virtues (though it has almost been a year since I’ve read it xD)

You’re welcome! It definitely worked ^^
