My homage to Frank Herbert's Dune:
Arrakis, Dune, Desert Planet...
The indigenous peoples of Arrakis, known as the Fremen, cross the treacherous desert back to their Sietches (communities) as a Shai-Hulud (Sandworm) makes for the deep desert...

*The Fremen mask/helmet:

The middle section is for inhalation, the bottom section for exhalation. As the breath comes in it cycles through a chemical process that cools the head, by a web of tubules, and releases dangerous gases out the exhalation ports.

The temperature and air mixture on Arrakis is too extreme for prolonged Human contact. In many ways, it's a toxic environment. The Fremen have adapted, but still require suits for protection.

The eyes are shielded from the intense ultra-violet, and extreme heat, although the Spice Melange helps to alleviate the need for constant protection.
