joey's design is heavily inspired by falco's winged titan and beast titan form in season 4, along with the scout bot and blu.
this was a story molly and i did for part two of blu, red, and ethan's story

for several years, a fem medic by the name of dr crow has been watching red, blu, and ethan, taking notes on their strengths and weaknesses. loving blu's uncontrollable rage, she ambushes him while he's with his family. joey ends up getting shot so dr crow uses that as leverage against blu so he'll listen to what she says. after separating joey from his family, dr crow reveals that she is gray mann's wife and loves how nature is cruel. she craves seeing animals tear each other apart, loves the bloodshed and how ugly it can get.
it then is revealed she stole some of gray mann's equipment and used it to create more animal like machines she plans to release along with the other man eating machines that plague red and blu's life.

wanting to see just how far blu's rage goes, she changes joey into this, a animal like machine and releases him on blu and violet
blu of course, protecting his wife and still angry for his son, attacks this new beast and the two almost rip each other apart while dr crow eggs them on, screaming for blood. blu of course has more experience being a machine so he's able to beat joey back, nearly killing him. only when joey transforms back into his human self, does blu realize what he's done and he falls apart.

joey survives however thanks to ethan and keegan (molly's characters) and doesn't blame blu at all for what happened. in fact he's happy to help his dad take on the burden of fighting back the machines.
blu is now currently helping joey how to use his robot form.

when joey is in human form, he still has black wings on his back (because i love wings lol)
dr crow is currently locked away in their jail while her animal like machines now run amok with the other machines, now a new threat

since he has a bad leg, one of his robot legs isn't fully formed so he struggles with that when landing
