Painting of Disney's Pocahontas, made with watercolours.
My greatest childhood heroine, and she still is one of my heroines, for a very simple reason, she is involved in a war and yet she never even considers using violence. And she's damn beautiful.
I've re-watched many Disney movies the last year, in English, even though I remember them all in Swedish from when I was a kid. And I have to say that most of the films are so much better in English, but when it comes to Pocahontas, I can't stand it. I have to see it in Swedish because I hate her English voice. She sounds so... old.

I LOVE THIS!!! I'm really picky about Pocahontas artwork because she is one of my favorite heroins as well.
On a side note: I watched the Swedish Pocahontas after reading your post, and I think I know why the American Pocahontas sounds so much older... our John Smith sounds a lot older than yours so it would have seemed weird if your pocahontas sounded as old as ours. Oddly enough though, I prefer the Swedish John Smith but the German or American Pocahontas.

I guess it depends on what you are used to. I grew up with the Swedish, so Pocahontas in my head has a light and serene voice. The English is very deep. It disturbs my image of her. And the English John, I don't even have words for. My god...
That was interesting. They where all different, but I agree with you, the German was nice.
