Hahaha marching season just ended, we had this crazy show, the ten mile day, and we had all these crazy moves and stuff and they were constantly yelling at the flutes because their horn angle was wrong or they weren't facing the box

YES! "Parallel to the sideline!" was drilled into us in high school. LOL, my flute teacher a few years later probably thought I was crazy holding my flute like that years later.

How to get the proper horn angle for flute---put a plastic spoon in the opening at the foot of your flute, if it falls out (at all) you're doing it wrong. This actually works! I do it myself

I feel you, girl. Platforming while playing the piccolo is annoying as heck, and my uniform is also extremely hot. We wear kilts, navy blue jackets and plaids (cough cough SIDE CAPES cough cough), no matter what the weather.Β

Oh, the trueness of this statement. When I first joined marching band in sixth grade, the director made me hold it higher than parallel to the ground to makeΒ me build my muscles for that. Six years later, I discover that she's not nearly as mean with saxophones.

I play flute too, and I droped my old flute... it survived... I practice really long... so I wore out the pads... T-T

I feel like I'm at home. *comes forward to embrace fellow Marching Band nerds* I feel ya girl. Flute and piccolo player here. Luckilly, I taught myself way back when I was learning flute to not droop. I yell at my swuad to not droop, and they probably are really irritated at that. Missing MB, off season needs to be over! At least I have Disney with the band all Spring Break. XD

My friend "No H" plays flute... Thanks to marching band, she gets compliments from random old ladies about how she has such amazingly good posture. Luckily our school colors are red white and blue, or else we wouldn't have a band very long (the southern heat is a brutal killer).

Our uniforms where blue vests with a frill and white pants, but they changed it and replaced the pants with black overalls and the frill with a bib. My friend is a flute and he goes through the same thing, plus us teasing him for being the only guy flute in our band.

omg this needs to be on my flute sections shirts XD im like the devil drill sargent to my section when it comes to waching for what my band calls "Flute dissese" i've been known to make them stand outside in the heat doing nothing but playing b flat scales so they can practice horn carage
