Description Sort of an update to my "Polish singers" series.
Some time ago I started to be grumpy about music like "when I was young, there were artists and now the music is not so good..." and so on.

But life has surprises for us and here she is.

"sanah" is a pseudonym, made from ther name Zuzanna (Polish equivalent for Susannah).

I am so impressed by her creativity, she's writes music for her songs, alone or in cooperation, writes lyrics, or recently often takes poems and sings them to the music she composed.

Being really popular (some of her videos have 50 000 000 - 100 000 000 views on YT), she has what is really important - artistic freedom.

And she uses it.

For example once she recorded an album with every song featuring other artist she likes.
Another time she recorded an album with poetry sung, including a song with the 19th century poem about the stone who'd like to become a human, and made a music video for it in which she's driving a tractor.

She's so different from those "plastic pop dolls" and I think that people love her for being herself.

I drew the portrait using as a reference frame from this music video (I encourage you to see it):

The lyrics was already sung by someone else (Ewa Demarczyk), but sanah wrote new music for this. It's a mix of poems written by Maria Pawlikowska-Jasnorzewska about hundred years ago and a fragment of poem by French poet  Baise Cendrars.

The poems by M. P.-J. actually were about sorrow felt when love is fading or gone, but as sanah is freshly in love and married not so long ago, she made it a positive song about woman who loves so much that every moment of being separated from her lover makes her crazy.

Here is the translation of the lyrics, partly taken from: www.tekstowo.pl/piosenka,sanah…, I numbered separate poems, 1, 2, 3 are by M. P.-J., 4 by B.C.

(1) You keep repeating (in original poem it's "reflecting" which makes more sense, I don't know why the first singer sung it wrong and it stayed here too) stubbornly and secretly
Looking out the window with sadness in your eye,
But you love me more than life,
At least you said so a year ago

(2) When you had happiness that doesn't happen,
Someone's body and the whole world,
And all that remained is just a photo,
That... that's so little

(3) I haven't seen you for a month
And nothing, maybe I'm paler,
A bit sleepier, a bit quieter,
But apparently, one can live without air

(1) You still laugh, but something hides beyond it
You stare at the sky, at the sculptures of clouds
But I am both the sky and the world
At least you said so a year ago

(4) You told me: "when you write to me,
Don't type everything
Write one verse by hand
A few words, really nothing big

I know that the portrait is not perfect, but I have to say that drawing this was fun and I have the feeling that I managed to capture her positive energy and joy on it.

Drawn with dry pastels.
